I don't know. Has someone told you that you can't?

Perhaps you're more likely to faint when pg? Confused

Renaissance227 · 08/04/2011 11:54

Apparently it's due to the risk of infection!

rasta · 08/04/2011 12:52

Risk of infection, mainly hepatitis if I remember rightly? Saying that, I got mine done when pregnant with DD Blush Just go to a well known piercer and take extra good care of them after it's done.

buttonmoon78 · 08/04/2011 13:23

Oh, ok. So you're not more likely to suffer anything just that if you are they don't want you getting anything, yes?

I'd hope you wouldn't be getting hepatitis anyway!

iskra · 08/04/2011 14:10

Yes, it's risk of blood borne infection. So arguably if you have it done in a professional place with good hygiene practice there isn't a risk. It's the same as with tattoos.

would you say claires is a reputable place??

It isn't just the risk of Hepatitis/HIV. There are all sorts of bacterial/viral/fungal infections which can enter through an open wound. The problem with piercings is that you are deliberately keeping the wound open by having a bit of metal through it so you are increasing the amount of time an infection can enter.

I definately wouldn't have anything pierced whilst pg (I have 11 piercings so am definately a fan) but I am probably over-cautious since I have previously mc'd.

And no, I would never have my ears pierced at Claire's even if I wasn't pg.
