Whaaat??? Really didn't expect this. Am so nervous about my odds...any reassurance from other, later first timers welcome!

Have just booked a private dating scan...bit of a panic purchase but I can't wait another 4 weeks. Plus I'm not feeling sick at all, missing wine but not sick.
Sigh. PANIC. Sigh.

This is an old thread, but just posting to say there is a 40+ conception thread, and a 40+ pregnancy thread if anyone needs support or advice. Sorry but I cannot link.

Just found this thread. Can't believe I missed it. I am 44 and also expecting first baby in January. Had had a couple of miscarriages, so it was such a huge relief to have 12 week nuchal fold scan and find out baby was gorgeous and healthy and low risk. I am now actually beginning to enjoy being pregnant. I was worried that I would be oldest mother in hospital and at school gates etc, but I do think society is changing and a lot of women are having gorgeous healthy babies in their 40s. Good luck everyone.

Congrats - its any consolation to you my mother had me at 45.

she had three children in her early 30's inclduing one with Downs Syndrome.

Then at 45 thinking it was menapause she was actually pregnant with me.

You can imagine the risk - of age - as well as previous downs history but she decided to have me and ....never looked back! Good luck!

Congratulations, my friend at work is 44 and just had her 1st baby with her husband, she married at 38 and they just enjoyed life together until deciding to add to it. They say it's hard work but not because of age mainly just because baby's are hard work. One thing that they benefit from over most younger couples is that there mortgage is paid, they have savings and they are really ready now to start a family. I know that's not everthing in life but it really helps, there little boy is lovely and they are super happy...... You will be too x
