Hello, I found out last week i am five weeks pregnant. I have been having really dull achy uterus cramps. Is this a normal sign? It isn't painful but it is uncomfortable. Other than this, i feel really well.

Anyone else due on or around 3rd December?

Is this your first baby? I had awful cramps at around this time when I was first pregnant. She's now 11. Good luck

Thank you! Yes it is my first, so a totally alien feeling really. Woke me up last night, and as i said although not painful, it is uncomfortable. Just a really dull achy niggle. I've read it can be the ligaments stretching, but seems rather early for that.

yes uterus stretching is what I was told, I honestly thought it was the onset of miscarriage. Roll on 12 weeks xx

jo87jo · 07/04/2011 12:25

How many weeks are you?

I would recommend if it has worried you enough to ask then it is worth getting checked out by GP. Probably nothing, but it is always best to get checked though.

It is normal, although very scary. I was knicker checking all the time at that stage. As long as there isn't any bleeding, you're okay.

I had cramps and bleeding at this stage with both of mine. It was implantation, although with my DD I was sure I was going to miscarry.

Congratulations and try not to worry.

I am almost 7 weeks pregnant now and I had period like cramps from the day my period was due. I have not had them for two days now. I have been told it is just everything stretching making room for baby! Good luck!

jo87jo · 07/04/2011 13:20

Thanks everyone, i feel reassured somewhat. At this stage it is hard to believe full stop, resisting the urge to keep buying new pregnancy tests!! Good luck to you all too x

I had terrible pain. It sometimes came in waves and also woke me at night. I did go to the doctor who told me no pain is good pain and go home and expect the worst. I should have complained about her. Anyway DD is nearly 17 months old now so I beg to differ.

Hi Jo - congratulations!

I'm around 5 weeks too... have a bit of confusion on dates though so waiting eagerly for the scan to decide exact due date.

Hi Jo.

I am six weeks pregnant and have been having similar pains. I phoned the EPU this morning and they assured me that if i am not bleeding (which i'm not) it will just be my uterus stretching. Was told to take some pain killers and call back if it does not settle.

Hope this helps :) x

highheelsandequations · 07/04/2011 16:31

Congratulations! I had period-type cramps and other various aches and pains in that region right up to about 11 weeks, then on and off after that. It's normal, just things moving and stretching etc. Am now 26 weeks. Try not to worry :)

Dutchie77 · 11/04/2011 21:02

Hi Jo!

Same here. I discovered last saturday that I am pregnant, even before my AF day. Bit tricky tho. I start having crampy pains today and I freaked out, because I officially have to wait till wednesday with testing.

But I read everywhere that cramps are normal. At this point I check my knickers every half hour. Fingers crossed

Enjoy your pregnancy

Hi all,

My cramps eventually turned into pain and bleeding, and as you can imagine i freaked out completely. On Monday this week i had an emergency doc's appointment and an early pregnancy scan tuesday.

I can happily report that baby is absolutely fine, and i even have a lovely little scan picture to look at now. It's heartbeat was incredible, absolutely amazing. Cried instantly as the docs/nurses are very matter of fact and scared me into thinking someone was wrong when it is a perfectly healthy pregnancy.

The pain/bleeding was put down to 'unexplained and just one of those things' so just goes to show that aches and pains can sometimes just be part of a healthy pregnancy and we are all different.

Hope you are all doing well x

I was told I was probably going to lose the baby when I told the midwife. Now know it was probably everything stretching and baby is now 10 and in his room for being rude.Hmm.

Midwifes are all to happy to dish out worst case scenarios... just thought i'd share a happy tale
