Bump - hard then squishy?

Not too sure if this is a silly question or not...

I am 23 weeks today and I still haven't got used to it all!

Earlier on today I was sitting watching telly and my bump randomly went really hard, I felt a few kicks 5 minutes before and then when the bump went hard I could feel them a lot stronger. Now it's gone squishy again... Sorry if this sounds confusing but just wondered if this was normal or happened to anyone else?

Thanks :) x

Early braxton hicks. Its your uterus practicing. Weird, isn't it? Perfectly normal though. Smile

Yes just Braxton Hicks...you will probably have them on and off right up until your due date, when you will hopefully get the proper ones!!!Grin

If they become uncomfortable, just change position or stand up and walk around..then they should subside.

Ooh right thanks! Is it normal for them to start this early though?

Yeah, I wish!!

Yeah totally normal for them to start at 20 weeks. My MW said that all women are experiencing them regulary from 8 weeks, but it is only at a later gestation that we start to notice them as our uterus is bigger. So dependant on bump and how quickly yours developes, you can start noticing them from around 16 weeks!

I am almost 37 weeks, and still getting them- such a shame the real ones won't be painless!!! Smile

Ok thanks! :) Yes, would be much less stressful I think if they were painless!
