How many weeks are you? At my 12w scan with DD we had to wait for over an hour and I was absolutely desperate for the loo.

I asked the receptionist if it would be a while before they saw me and if so I would go - she said at 12w there is no problem and you don't need a full bladder. I went to the loo, came out and was called immediately so panicked but it was absolutely fine.

Just back from my 12w scan this time and exactly the same happened - so I think unless it's v early days you should be fine not to go in bursting!

I as told 1-1 and half pints of water at least an hour before. It is protocol here for full bladder for all scans (unless internal) to have a full bladder. I think some hospitals don't require so I presume it depends on the scanning machine but I am just guessing.

Woodifer I wouldn't worry too much - if you've not got enough in your bladder they'll just send you to go to the loo and then do the scan internally (which is actually fine despite how you'd expect it to be!)
