Im due 22nd sept and am taking my remaining 11 days annual leave from the 1st August then will be on maternity leave straight after that

soppypreggyloon · 05/04/2011 20:17

Now! Grin
just for my last day at work! I'll be 37 wks tomorrow. Was only part time so not as tiring as full time but do spend rest of week with lively toddler!

Dziga · 05/04/2011 20:18

I worked up to 37 weeks but to be honest the last week or so was very uncomfortable and I was extremely tired so should have left at 36 weeks. Now I am on mat leave I am a lot more comfortable.

davidtennantsmistress · 05/04/2011 20:19

i'm due 23rd aug, having 2 weeks holidays from the 5th as DP is home the 8th then maternity from the 22nd that way get longer after bubs comes, did the same with DS as well.

luluzulu · 05/04/2011 20:20

working full time and leaving at 36weeks i'm on my feet all day though and starting to feel the strain

fatbottomgirl · 05/04/2011 20:22

I'm finishing as early as I can. I work in a bar and am finding the weekend very hard bending, stretching, lifting and very late nights. Also I have 3 other children at home and think it would be nice for them to spend some time with me before the baby arrives.

I could have reduced my shifts but this would effect my maternity pay so best is to finish early and enjoy it!! Yeah Grin

Well, seems that there is a trend for the 36-37 week time slot :-)
I thought of going for the 38 week, but seems I was too hursh on myself..

week 36 it is :-)!!

With dd it was 36 weeks (as I had hols to use up) but this time i'm expecting twins and work in a school so I'll be on school hols at 31 weeks then dts due 1st week Sept by cs.

nomoreheels · 05/04/2011 20:39

I've been off since 7 weeks... Hmm Long story.

I'm 31 wks now though, & have felt increasingly worn out & breathless. I don't think I personally could manage full time 9-5 anymore.

ToriaPumpkinHead · 05/04/2011 21:14

I'm not going back so seriously considering walking out next week as my boss is becoming increasingly painful... However, I think I too will be going for 36 weeks, I'm due October 26th so will leave at the beginning of the month as there's lots of holiday booked that month so my replacement will need to start and be trained before all that.

F1rstT1meMummy · 05/04/2011 21:19

I am planning 38 weeks - but I am 28 weeks now, and seriously considering finishing earlier. I am shattered!!
Good luck
x

Joannezipan · 05/04/2011 22:04

I'm also planning on going to 38 weeks, but i'm 29+6 now and i'm shattered and wishing i'd plumped for earlier. I might get the doc to sign me off a couple of weeks before if i'm still feeling rough when I get a bit closer though - always have a back up plan!

ecuse · 05/04/2011 22:13

I was planning 37+3 but ended up going a week early at 36+3. The 'reason' was I got diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension but, to be honest, I was using that as an excuse cause I was sick of it and needed the break. My ankles were getting enormous sitting at a desk all day, the commute was exhausting and my heart REALLY wasn't in it. I could have made it to 37+3 but if you don't need to then you'll probably want to go earlier. I am now 38 and loving pottering around at home nesting. Almost wishing a baby wasn't about to come along and spoil all my fun!

LDNlady · 05/04/2011 22:21

My maternity leave starts 3 weeks before my due date (June 8th) but I am also taking two weeks annual leave before that so that hubby and I can have a break in Scotland and to visit my family before bubs is here.

shinydiscoball · 05/04/2011 22:27

8 days before my due date as we can't afford for me to have much mat leave - very jealous reading this thread

JimmyChoo17 · 05/04/2011 22:38

Am wondering if my plan to work to 39 weeks is actually a little ambitious!!? I know people who have done it who have had no health issues etc....

It's my first so am clueless! I do realise may want to finish earlier but can change my dates if needed. Would never work as late if problems of course. It's the money situ that worries me!

urbandaisy · 05/04/2011 23:04

I'm planning to go to 38 weeks, with maybe a week or two working from home before that if I can swing it. I'd rather have the time at the other end as I can only take six months!

PoppysMom · 06/04/2011 03:20

I wish I could go on leave now. I am so exhausted and only 7 weeks!
I am planning to go on leave at 26 weeks though

Pootletrinket · 06/04/2011 07:40

I worked until 38 weeks with first (but then had pregnancy induced hypertension at the end - may or may not have been related) and then finished at 36.5 weeks (3 weeks ago!) - needed the rest, but now getting itchy feet and waiting for baby to come, with still a week to go before EDD!

otchayaniye · 06/04/2011 09:05

I worked with my first until the day I had her (at 36 weeks, bad preeclampsia and next day I was in for a section)

This one I plan on working (three days a week) until I have the baby, maybe a few days off beforehand (I'm planning another section so I guess this will be 38/9 weeks). To be honest a day working (journalist) is less tiring than a looking after my 2-1/2 year old daughter!

I'm lucky in that my husband stays home on the days I work to look after our daughter so childminding/nanny not an issue to work or plan around.

nunnie · 06/04/2011 09:15

I had 4 weeks leave left and wasn't planning on returning to work (which they knew) so I left at 36 weeks.

lolajane2009 · 06/04/2011 09:18

I only 12 hours a week looking after my brother... anyone know when I legally have to give up?

silverangel · 06/04/2011 09:21

I'm going at 31 weeks (having twins, been told to stop at 28 but cant afford to), taking four weeks leave and then mat leave starts when babies delivered, hopefully at 35 weeeks.

Hersetta · 06/04/2011 09:21

I have a section booked for 27/7 and my last day in the office will be 8/7. Will have 2 weeks of holiday and then start ML officially on 25/7.

With my first DC I worked (commute in London by train and tube until 6 days before my section date. Decided to have a little bit of extra time off this time though to spend with DD before her little brother arrives.

WinterLover · 06/04/2011 09:31

I 'planned' to work till 36w but have a large cyst so knew it may be earlier and here I am at 20+6 signed off sick for 2 weeks with it looking like I won't be going back before ML starts :(
