Lovely "babymoon" destinations in Scotland?

Can anyone help with some inspiration? DH & I are planning to take some time off over Easter and fancy treating ourselves a little bit as this will probably be our last baby-free break (I'll be 20 weeks). Am a bit of an anxious mum-to-be so don't want to venture too far from civilisation/emergency medical care so we're thinking Scotland. Anyone got any good suggestions of lovely hotels? We're happy to splash out on a bit of luxury...

The Witchery in Edinburgh. Expensive but worth it. It's sooo romantic!!

Mar hall, cameron house both just outside glasgow

Gleneagles

Blythswood square, hotel du vin or Malmaison in Glasgow

Piersland house hotel in Troon

The glasshouse, missoni, Malmaison or lots of others that I can't think of in Edinburgh

Any idea of what area/city/countryside etc?

Witchery Yy

Or tigerlily

Or Piperdam just outside Dundee

Agree with K999, The Witchery or alternatively Prestonfield in Edinburgh - you are only 10 mins drive from the city centre but it feels like you're in a really stylish/luxurious country house.

There are highland cows and peacocks in the grounds, beautiful restaurant, lots of cosy rooms to read the papers/have a drink/afternoon tea etc and the rooms themselves are amazing.

It's really luxurious but has a really nice unstuffy feel and the staff are great too. We are in Edinburgh but I'm planning a babymoon there myself later in the year!

I can second the Prestonfield. It's really lovely.

Wow! These are amazing suggestions! Might have to cut the trip a little shorter than planned to stretch to some of them but they look amazing!

Didn't have fixed ideas on location but could be multi-centre. Loch Lomand was a definite idea and I think Cameron House might just have swung it!

x-posts with others - thank you all! Keep them coming (esp some slightly cheaper options so we could maybe do a couple of nights somewhere gorgeous and a couple of nights somewhere cosy/lighter on the wallet).

Ooh now I'm torn - Prestonfield and the Witchery both look sensational too!

Mar hall is quite close to Cameron house. Restuarants at Cameron house are fab. Couple of days in Edinburgh at Apex then couple of nights at Cameron House. Although spa at Mar Hall is nicer...

Prestonfield and the Witchery are both spectacular, would recommend Prestonfield for the public areas to sit in (lounges, garden and terrace)- we spent 3 day there last summer and hardly went out just sat around happily reading and sipping wine (booked last inute as well and got a really good deal). Witchery is great for being in the city centre and you have your own private suite to stay in.

Rufflets just outside St Andrews is lovely, very quiet and relaxed and good food too.

Tigerlily in Edinburgh is also really stylish.

We also had a lovely break at Abbots Brae in Dunoon a few years ago and have always meant to go back, very small hotel/B&B but was fabulous, gorgeous views, fab food and run by a lovely couple.

Wherever you decide to go have a fantastic time. I would love to have a final getaway with just the two of us but unfortunately we have to finish building the bathroom first and at this rate I'll be 36 weeks before that's done and not wanting to go anywhere!

Wombat33 · 06/04/2011 17:41

Thank you all so so much! Have now booked at Prestonfield and Cameron House!! Sadly Abbots Brae couldn't fit us in but have also booked at couple of other nice looking more modest places too (Hunters Quay Hotel in Dunoon and Alt na Craig House in Oban). Really looking forward to our holiday!!
