Think my labour might be starting??

Hi I am 34 weeks and am getting quite regular pains (every 10-15 mins), mainly in my back, starting half way down and going right down into my bottom and thighs. A few twinges in my stomach but nothing too bad just yet. I have been warned that I might go into labour early due to carrying excess water so I wonder if this is it?? I have also had what I think might be a show.
I was induced with DD and went into very intense labour straight away so have no experience of early labour. Going to have a warm bath and if it is still happening in an hour I will ring the hospital to see if they think I need to go in.

How long do they last? how long have they been happening? and what did your show look like?

Icanonlytry · 05/04/2011 12:46

They probably last just over a minute then ease off, the pain doesn't completely go away but definitely peaks and dips. They started at about 6pm last night but were not at all regular and I managed to sleep through them. It was just like a lump of discharge, not huge but more than normal, looked a bit like hair gel Blush.

I would go in and see what they say, I hope everything is okay.

Thanks, they eased off after a warm bath, phoned midwife who said to rest and ring back if they got any worse.

This sounds like early labour to me, but I'm not the best judge as with my one labour so far I just went straight in with fairly frequent contractions and waters breaking so like you have never had that 'is it or isn't it' bit. The discharge sounds like the fabled 'plug'. Again, never saw mine! Gosh, I'm feeling quite excited on your behalf now! (I'm due with DC2 in October and SIL due any day now, so I'm in that kind of mood). All the best!

No news. still having the pains but they haven't really changed/became more frequent. Have packed my hospital bag and got everything ready just incase.

eastegg My experience sounds lots like yours, no show or mild contractions.

We will see what tomorrow brings, glad nothing has happened because it is so early but was excited about meeting the little one Smile.

Please go to hospital. This sounds much like my early labour at 33 weeks. If I had actually realised what was happening I would have gone in earlier and they could have stopped it.

Any news?? Xx

Icanonlytry · 07/04/2011 09:41

No news, everything seems to have calmed down now. Got an appointment with a consultant tomorrow to measure my water level as midwife thinks I am carrying too much water so will see what he says.
Thank you for asking. xxx
