Hi,
I bought a Mamas and papas baby swing in the sale and have only today decided to try it out.
What im confused about is that the highest setting (5) means the swing doesnt move at all and the setting (1) moves the swing but not very fast.
Does anyone have an M&P swing and could they help me with the settings?
Im sure the 5 setting is suppose to be the fastest setting, as it has the biggest out of the 5 buttons, but the instructions doesn't show me the speed options.
Not sure now if i have a broken swing or not, and as im suppose to be on bed rest due to an incompetent cervix and im 33 weeks, i cant be travelling back and forth to the shops.

Hi.i have the statlite swing from there.the numbers arent speeds.its dependent on baby weight.so 1 when baby is small and 5 when babies biggest. Youll see it working once your bundle arrives x

Ok thanks.. So does that mean when your baby isn't in the swing the number 5 setting goes slower then number 1 setting or faster?x

you'll find in general when baby isn't in the swing it hardly moves. once theres weight in it you'll see it move. number 1 is definately for the lighter babies which is why it moves when you press it with no baby in. its pretty much the same speed all the time. i wasn't that impressed with the swing in the end. although i did like that i could put my own music on it as the songs get pretty annoying pretty quick.

try putting a bag of sugar or or something and you can see how the weight changes work with the numbers. x

Tried my daughters big doll on setting 5, as baby hasn't arrived yet and the swing just stops swinging.
The music is bloody awful compared to the Fisher price one i had 5 years ago for my son, there is even someone chatting away on one of the songs?
Googled reviews for Mamas and papas swings and they are all awful, so going to try take it back on thursday.
Not too sure what the outcome will be as i've also been reading up reviews on there appalling return policy and customer service.
Also got a damaged blanket snuggle to return to them.
I am soooooooo staying well away from this shop in the future.
John Lewis and Mothercare are definately top on my list!x

In the instructions it says that it doesn't work without a baby (i.e. something weighing it down) in it. To be honest, even a big doll is probably a lot lighter than a baby. If in doubt it might be a better indication to put something that weighs around 3-4 kg in it (like 3 litre cartons of juice).

Also, it should have an audio jack (it's on the inside of one of the round bits at the bottom and looks just like a screw hole, very easy to miss!) so you can plug in an iPod/iPhone or other mp3 player, you will need to get a special lead for that, but they only cost a few quid.

In my experience the customer service in Mamas and Paps is SHOCKING

Make sure you take your receipt - even for faulty items and even for a simple exchange, as they flat-out refuse to talk to you if you don't have a receipt.

Not that I'm bitter Hmm

I have the m&p one with the twinkly lights above it (bought on ebay for £20 thankfully not new!) It did swing but then when dd arrived did bugger all. Dh ended up taking the thing apart and shoving a big screw in the mechanism, which made it work, but looked horrible, and tbh dd didnt even like the thing anyway!

Having massive problems with getting ours to swing, I know this thread is a little old but you are the only ones who seemed to have some sort of success fixing it. My other half has taken it apart but hasn't been able to find a way to fix it. I was hoping you could tell exactly how you fixed it and where you stuck the screw to get it to swing
Thanks!

That was aimed at mummapanda
