I walked without trousers and with a towel between my legs.

Sam100 · 04/04/2011 17:59

Either sit on a towel or use one of your large maternity pads (which will hopefully be in your hospital bag!!!). Congratulations - is this your first?

pads arnt working been through two at a time everytime i get up towel seems 2 be working best atm but just sitting on the toilet seems quite appealing atm!! yeh its my first!! didnt think it would 'gush' this much!! ooo how wrong i was!!

Sit on/walk with a towel. Stay calm. Don't fight the pain, go with it Smile

Are you having a home birth or going in to hospital? Either way - have you called your midwife? My waters broke with dc1 and they were quite cross with me for not going in immediately! I did not get any contractions for another 12 hours and knew they would send me home again - but had to go through the motions of going in to be checked over and sent home again! Next 2 times my waters did not go until just before I had both children.

Good luck - hope it all goes well! Do come back to let us know how you are doing!

Defo phone your MW, when mine went (@ 33wks, so perhaps a little different?!) they wanted me to go in & be checked. Contractions started 24hrs later!

Mine mostly came out in one big gush, but used maternity pads to keep the continuous leak contained!

Your MW will want you to ring but you may want to consider declining an internal exam if you go in/they come to you as they do increase the risk of infection. They will also offer induction if you don't go in to labour after 24 hours but it's worth knowing that you can delcine that and opt for monioring instead. Have a lovely relaxing evening and hopefully a baby very soon!
