carrying pregnancy notes?

With DS i did carry them everywhere. This time (am 14 weeks) i don't tend to unless at work or long way from home.

Does everyone else really carry them all the time? Intend to carry them more later on in pregnancy!

no i dont carry mine anywhere with me apart from holidays or to go to the doctors or hospital.

SecretSlattern · 04/04/2011 15:57

Same as liz. They only ever came with me if I was going quite far from home or when on trips to the hospital/GP.

dribbleface · 04/04/2011 15:57

thanks liandlulu, thought i was being neglectful! I was pretty up tight first time around, this time i'm much more relaxed!

i carry mine everywhere but mainly because I am high risk and dont go out that often.

BlingLoving · 04/04/2011 16:03

Blimey, I didn't even know you were supposed to carry them everywhere! I take them to midwife/hospital only. Might carry them if traveling a bit further from home in last few weeks. But I always figured if I was out somewhere, DH woul dhave to come rushing anyway...!

missnevermind · 04/04/2011 16:06

Towards the begining of pregnancy I only carried them when I needed too. I am 24 weeks now and have started to leave them in my handbag. But I had a difficult pregnancy last time and ended up at doc and hospital in a hurry a few times.

dribbleface · 04/04/2011 16:07

thanks, feeling less guilty now! Think i was way OTT first time around!

I only took them to the midwife, or if I was staying away from home after 35 weeks.

Sparklies · 04/04/2011 16:14

They're waaay too bulky and impractical to carry everywhere! Like others, if I am going some distance away or likely to be out for a while I'll take them with me now I'm in the third trimester and at high risk of PTL, but pre 24 weeks?

Frankly I've always imagined any vital information in them is probably something that could be relayed in an emergency anyway in most cases unless you're completely not with it!

minimuffy · 04/04/2011 16:55

i didnt carry them with me unless going to appointments, but i had bump in my car at 38 weeks and got told off my mw for not carrying my notes with me!

i'd say unless you are high risk then leave it till you're further along

controlpantsandgladrags · 04/04/2011 16:59

I didn't carry mine about. I even forgot to take them with me to hospital when in labour with DD2 Blush

systemsaddict · 04/04/2011 16:59

yes, read your thread title and thought, only did that first time round ...

supadupapupascupa · 04/04/2011 17:03

I popped mine into a plastic sleeve and kept them in my handbag at all times. I wanted to make sure that if anything happened to me (accident or general health wise) that anyone attending me knows immediately all my details about the pregnancy and can help accordingly. I think this is why they ask you to carry them with you. Not much of a pain, and would be invaluable to healthcare professionals should they need it.

Bonkerz · 04/04/2011 17:05

mine are in an A5 plastic wallet (folded in half) with al my hospital letters and i carry them in my handbag at all times and have done since booking in.

Cyclebump · 04/04/2011 17:08

I started carrying mine continually from about 32 weeks but only because I'm so accident prone!

nannyl · 04/04/2011 17:10

am 17 weeks with my 1st. I keep them in my bedroom.

only take them to dr / midwife.

Or if im staying away from home

I'll probably start carring them around at maybe 35 weeks ish

dizzy77 · 04/04/2011 17:11

Now that's a good idea Bonkerz - handbag size mat notes! Like glamour magazine... OK, anyone one here from NHS innovation? In the meantime, will replace the A4 wallet with an A5 one and follow suit. Thank you!

33+4, just packed up work, and thinking it's about time I started carrying them with me. On the look out for glamourous casual handbag to pep up increasingly dowdy feeling outfits and just momentarily annoyed I should make room for these. Now you have resolved the challenge.

Bogeyface · 04/04/2011 17:15

I am 33 and I mean to but they invariably end up on the shelf out of the kids way, so I forget they are there! Mind you, i barely leave the house these days so not a problem, but i never carried them everywhere with the others either.

I probably would if I was high risk though.

CaringForPod · 04/04/2011 17:40

Didn't even occur to me to take them anywhere except appointments! Although it probably is a good idea if you're going away. I'm 36 weeks and a bit now, so maybe should start carrying them around with me...
