Does anyone know whether it's possible to have symptoms (nausea, heightened sense of smell) as soon as you fall pregnant? Not sure if I'm just imagining things!

I was lucky enough to fall pregnant v quickly with DS (nearly 3 yo) and had morning sickness etc from an early stage, tho not sure exactly when they started.

We have just started trying for a second child (well sort, of trying I guess having unprotected sex means trying?!). I could in theory have conceived on Friday night or last night (am mid cycle). When I got up this morning I felt a little nauseous and I have noticed certain smells quite strongly today. So it's got me wondering.

Of course it could all be in my head - I'm sure if I hadn't had unprotected sex the nausea/smells wouldn't gave even crossed my mind!

It seems ridiculous. But then bodies are strange things. When I was pregnant with DS the smell of coffee was horrible to me throughout my pregnancy, then literally 30 mind after giving birth I realised it smelt fine again

I have been pregnant 9 times and I can honestly say that within 24 hours of conceiving I have been sick every single time! So yes, it is possible! Smile

I had nose bleeds with my first pregnancy from day one!

silver28 · 04/04/2011 14:11

Oh gosh! I'm a bit nervous. I do want another baby. Just seems bloody quick! Well, I guess i'll have to wait and see what happens. another couple of weeks and I'll know for sure!

sense of smell increased in sensitivity and more saliva was produced from the very start.

I went a bit wappy for a few days after ovulation/conception, totally out of character, and felt sick 2 days later (also had heightened sense of smell)... wasn't that surprised to get my BFP a week or so later!

Good luck!

I only realised that I had been having symptoms before I took my test, my symptom was fatique. I was doing my work and had to sit down lots coz I was tired or just could not continue, I have never been like this.

Dziga · 05/04/2011 12:21

I noticed symptoms right from day 1 :)

vickylou2004 · 05/04/2011 12:33

Straight after conception with my first, very strong symptoms!

JumpingForJuly · 05/04/2011 13:42

I knew even before I'd missed my period that i was pregnant just by the symptoms!
Good luck Smile

I'm also wondering if I'm PG too. I'm on CD33 & could get AF anyday. I had some mild pains this morning & am waiting for it to happen but with DC2 I remember having period like pains for a few days & then found out I was PG. This would be my 4th child, & don't know how I'd actually cope but so want to do it all one more time (not sure DH feels the same though!).

I am getting waves of tiredness but trying not to read more into it. Would love to be PG though, even though I wake up exhausted in the morning telling myself I'm mad & shouldn't do it!!

Good luck silver28

Good luck to you too leaky. Much braver than me, I'm nervous about going from one to two!!

Thanks for all the responses everyone.

I've not felt any symptoms today. I may have imagined it, perhaps. But I still wouldn't be surprised if I am pregnant (and I'd be thrilled). When I first started trying for DS I got pregnant within 2 weeks but unfortunately miscarried at 6 weeks. I then fell pregnant with DS within a week. So I know there's a chance I could gave fallen pregnant quickly again, although I did/do fear it might take longer this time as I'm carrying faaaarrrrr too much weight Blush. anyway, will find out on a week or so I suppose Grin

You may have got pregnant a bit earlier than you think 'ovulation' was. I felt symptoms v early, about a week after conception. But I was having twins!!! When you do a test, if it goes positive very very quickly then it maybe a multiple (just to put a bit more fear into you Grin)

silver28 · 05/04/2011 22:39

Ha ha, thanks merrymarigold! I certainly would feel nervous if having twins, especially as looking after DS is no walk in the park!

Well anyway, I can safely rule out having conceived earlier than Friday, as since having DS I find it a hell of a lot easier to keep track of when I've had sex!

Ah ok then, that makes sense! I think it takes a few days to get implant and you start releasing hormones...so maybe not from day 1, but probably possible from day 4 or so.

silver28 · 13/04/2011 08:32

Well......turns out they were early symptoms! Grin Grin Grin

Thanks!

I can't tell anyone else yet - can't even tell DH until tonight as he's left his mobile at home. So it's nice to be able to 'tell' mumsnet!
