First NHS scan at about 12 weeks (estimated from your dates) is standard around here. This is the dating scan. Then anomaly scan at 20 weeks and that is often your lot. I have been promised another scan at 36 weeks though because DS was undiagnosed footling breech, and his birth was complicated because of this.

You can go for a private scan anytime I think, if you are desperate.

do you know where and who i might contact to have a private scan??

Babybond do private scans, they are dotted about the country.

How many weeks are you? NHS won't do them unless you have problems before 12 weeks.

Oh and congrats by the way.

Most places do dating scans at 12 weeks, mine was a 20 weeks because in my area they feel that this is more accurate. I did have a scan earlier than this but they didn't change the date on the basis of it. Do you have a reason for thinking that your LMP date is likely to be very inaccurate? If you don't then you don't really need dating scan at this stage.

All 3 of mine have been aroung the 12 week mark, seems the norm here.

Private scans in our area [West yorks] £90 for a viability scan at 8 weeks X

Utterly normal to have a dating scan around 12 weeks. The baby at this age is of a good size to accurately date the pregnancy without genetic size factors interfering and before 12 weeks there's very sadly a higher chance of miscarriage and problems with seeing things accurately on a scan.

thank you!! : ) i have had a look and they can do scans in quite close by too me so I am going to try that. I just need to know that everything is ok
