Hello,

Please can you let me know if I?ve got this right before I speak to my boss?

I don?t get maternity pay from work so will be on SMP for the time I take off.

I?d like to start my maternity on Monday 1 August 2011 and take the full 39 weeks at SMP + my 5 weeks holiday + the 9 Bank Holidays (up to and including June 5 2012) making a total of 45 weeks and 4 days meaning I?ll be back in work on Friday 15 June 2012?

Thanks!

x

Hi,

Looks right to me. You should be able to take that much time off. (I go on SMP as of 15th April) The only thing you may need to do is take your 39 weeks SMP then when you've been off around 35 weeks write to your employer (with at least a months notice) to say you wish to take your holiday and BH's. If you can arrange with your employee before you go on mat leavbe to take your holiday on the end of your mat leave before you come back then thats a good idea just incase for whatever reason they don't allow you to. That way if they don't let you you'll know from the beginning rather than it being a shock! :)
