I found out and have still not told my husband... I am not sure I am ready for number two...and I know he is not either...

what is a sweet way to let him know even though it was a total whoops!

I just found out (join my December baby bus thread!) I just awkwardly held out the pregnancy test...! It is our second child too, ds is 13 months, so the night feeds are still relatively fresh in his mind....!

LadyOfTheManor · 03/04/2011 22:36

You could put a bow on it and leave it for him, or wrap it up....?

LDNmummy · 03/04/2011 23:45

I just peed on the stick and showed it to him. The first time the line was so faint he didn't believe it so I did another one 5 day's later before he would stop living in denial. Now he is a very excrutiatingly proud daddy to be. Maybe the simple way is best, but probably a good idea to wait till the little blue line is good enough to spot from the moon.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 03/04/2011 23:46

Yep, pee on a stick and show it to him :)

jimper · 04/04/2011 06:36

In a very hushed voice on my mobile from the toilet cubicle in M&S on Oxford Street......classy! :)

Nunners · 04/04/2011 10:20

i got up early one morning, peed on a stick and took it back to bed to wait for it to show the results. My husband was woekn by a very quiet voice from me saying a very long, slow 'fck'. Then he sat up in bed and said rather louder 'F**CK'. I thought that pretty much communicated everything we wanted to say at that time!

Joannezipan · 04/04/2011 12:52

not like I did it...at 8:15 on a friday morning just as we were about to go to work! There was some very quick laughing and then some very quick crying and then an oh bollocks we have to go to work now. The moral of that story is never to do a pg test before work even if you "know" it will be negative!

WalterFlipsticks · 04/04/2011 12:55

I used a digital one so it spelled it out for him! Handed it to him, and he said 'is this real'! ha ha!
Little did he know it's would get more real when at the 12 week scan there were twins!

hubbahubster · 04/04/2011 13:56

I rang and told him that the rare steak we were planning that night was off the menu ;) we were both totally stunned as I hadn't had a period for 5mths following an MMC, so we thought my bits weren't working yet!

Valiant1 · 04/04/2011 15:55

i did one with my dd, came out of the bathroom with it in my hand, he was up a ladder putting the christmas stuff up and i went "erm i'm pregnant" lol he nearly fell of the ladder.

candr · 04/04/2011 18:07

I wrapped them up, one with lines and a clear blue so he could be in no doubt. He opened them and asked what they were???, was delighted and said that that made it real for him, then seemed to forget about it a bit till the scan, now have bump as reminder. Could always take photo of stick and send via phone.

PrincessScrumpy · 04/04/2011 18:23

I had flu and period was being odd (spotting not proper) so dh said (on the phone from work) "oh just take a test then it rules pg out" - an hour later I called him and told him we were having another baby. Not nearly as romantic as the finding out with dd1. Probably more a how not to do it than how to do it! Grin

Congratulations. You may not think you're ready but sounds like your body is x

mamaesi · 04/04/2011 20:25

dear LADYMANOR.... yes this is my problem my one year old is still not sleeping perfectly... and the idea of a double buggy puts me over the edge...

oh well.

I told via the phone, he was actually pleased although he still managed to say I told you this would happen (as if he had no part in it)

mamaesi Congrats!

I'm mildly envious of those that dress up the announcement in a special way because every single time I've tried to do it, he's guessed before I've gotten it out (and I'm currently on my 4th pregnancy).

pinkdaisy · 04/04/2011 22:51

I took a picture of the digital test that literally spells it out and the weeks, and texted it to him!! Was quite funny to see him nervously laughing at the same time as sweating and looking quite pale!!! Especially when I put...shhh don't tell anyone but....!
Bless him, bet he will open texts a lot more cautiously from now on!

MissMarjoribanks · 04/04/2011 22:57

I did the pregnancy test when I got up, got a BFP and was a bit shellshocked as it had happened quickly. I got in the shower as planned (was getting ready for work) to clear my head and think about how to tell DH.

Unbeknownst to me DH strolled into the bathroom whilst I was in the shower, picked up the pregnancy test and the first I knew of it was when he shouted through the curtain, 'what does the cross mean'?

That I'm pregnant, dear. Grin

davidtennantsmistress · 05/04/2011 21:50

big congrats,

I sent him a message saying 'we need to talk ring me asap' he said well I have your boy so I know you're not gonna dump me. Blush then told him & showed it to him in the KFC car park - classy! lol. Made up for it thou as it was xmas 2 days later so got him an 'i love my daddy' baby grow and wrapped it up from the baby.

HPSource · 10/04/2011 21:35

LDNmummy the exact same thing happened to me! The faint line was too faint for DH to beleive so I bought the test that literally spells it out! He's been on cloud nine since.

ChocolateEggyrolls · 10/04/2011 21:41

I was a bit naughty -

1st time round I took a pg test because I had one and my period hadn't come. Positive. DH was out, didn't tell him when I got back as wanted to check with dr. Checked with dr, then told him that I was sorry but we wouldn't be able to go skiing Grin but we would be having a baby!

2nd time, again I jokingly took one, flipping positive, felt a bit weird about it as it certainly wasn't planned. Left it a WEEK before I told him!!!! Then told him on xmas day before we went to see family, as he was ironing at the time he nearly burnt himself, but we are both very much back on track now that ds is here Grin, can't imagine ourselves without him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin Blush Grin Smile

lolajane2009 · 10/04/2011 22:34

I jumped on top of my husband that was sleeping on the study floor after a nightshift. Slightly unfair of me but i was extremely excited.

magicmelons · 10/04/2011 23:17

Congrats! i found out i am unexpectedly pregnant with dc3 1 or 2 ago ago this was VERY unplanned. The day before i had said i feel a bit sick to dh and he had said " if your pregnant can you make sure i'm sitting down when you tell me" i should say that at this point i always think i'm pregnant just before i get my period so i did the test at work had a massive panic i phoned him a couple of times but he was working so when eventually spoke at lunch time i just said are you sitting down then? He started laughing. I have to say he is completely and utterly delighted its thrown me a bit, i've wanted another baby since about a month after i had ds and he has always said no way so i moved on got a really good job and got over having another baby.

Your Dp may well surprise you. With my 2nd i got my then 18 month old to say we're having a baby and produce the test, probably not hygienic but very sweet.
