Maternity Dungarees...........How come....?

How come celebrities can wear them, and they look good, but if I was to try some on, I'd look like I should be on a farm in Oklahoma somewhere?!!?!?!

I want clothes that stay up Dungarees are starting to seem like the only option, but they would look terrifying!!!!

Anyone got any casual trousers that actually stay up??? The below bump style seem to fall down, and even the mothercare jeans that I bought with a wide waist only comes part way up the bump, so it slides down, and I end up with baggy bum and all uncomfortable!!!

Maybe you should try a smaller size?
I spent mostof my slobbing around time whilst pregnant in a pair of jersey jogging trousers which were non maternity.
Oh the joys of trying to find decent clothing whilst pregnant!

I much preferred the over-the-bump trousers - much more sug. But I htink maternity dungarees look awful on just about everyone, tbh

teeavee · 30/10/2005 12:28

sug=snug

busybusybee · 30/10/2005 12:35

I had some jeans I liked a lot (compared to all others) from JoJo maman babe or blooming marvellous - not sure which

They had jersy side panels and elastic all the way round - Of course they werent stylish but they were comfortable and they stayed up. They cost £30

I don't get dungarees and pregnancy at all! I mean just at a point where you are permanently going to the loo you wear trousers that are a pfaff to put on and take off. Drop in a huddle on the floor (which in public toilets is NOT appealing) and give the impression you're actually only 4! Mind you dh rather likes Cod's picture.

The mention of maternity dungarees always reminds of an eternal mystery in Neighbours. Years ago, a character called Daphne unexpectedly gave birth whilst on a woodland walk. She miraculously delivered the baby without removing her dungarees - amazing!!

ei23monster · 30/10/2005 23:59

i remember that -not the dungaree part tho! maybe they were especially baggl legged dungarees or she ripped them to let the baby out!! anywho...
dungarees are crappity on anyone without a connection to the clampets so unless your name is ellie-may id avoid them!!
i bought a pair of mat jeans from asda for £10 an they are dead comfy an they reach the top of my bump (32wks) an dont fall down!! yay for bargain pants!!

Scaryskribble · 31/10/2005 00:01

I think if you wouldn't look good pre pregnacy in dungarees then your never gonna look good in them .

I was massive but managed not too bad with mothercare jeans, struggled abit for the last 3 weeks.

Scaryskribble · 31/10/2005 00:05

My friend is 40+ and still gets away with wearing dungarees, I'm sure she would have lookde great in them while pregnant .

eidsvold · 31/10/2005 02:10

i had a big bump during pregnancy and also used the asda 10 pound ones - they were fab!!

flamebat · 31/10/2005 07:22

Asda don't do maternity round here

Re Daphne... maybe they were like baby ones, and had poppers round all the leg bits

I had that problem flamebat - asda near us did not do maternity clothing so had to try an asda near my inlaws when we stayed with them.

Chloe55 · 31/10/2005 10:08

Hee hee - had to laugh at this thread because I LOVE my dungarees, much to DH's disgust! I do agree they make me look about 5 though! Love them all the same.

pinklilith · 31/10/2005 11:17

dungarees don't look so bad, lol, I love dungarees!

teeavee · 31/10/2005 11:28

but when you're preggers they accentuate the 'thin legs with big belly humpty dumpty' look!

Chloe55 · 31/10/2005 11:44

At least they show off the 'thin legs though'

Jasnem · 03/11/2005 16:38

I'm still wearing non maternity dungarees, which look ok (in my opinion, anyway). Ilove them.

H&M do some nice looking maternity ones, too
