are you sure you need it? there are different schools of thoughts and a lot of professionals feel they are unnecessary, ineffective and introduce additional risks (infection is one of them).

sorry, i just re-read your OP and you are asking for positive feedback. I withdraw my comments.

no actual experience (although my MW has said she'll give me one when she comes back from holiday at 40+5 if I want!) but a couple of friends have had them & while they didn't exactly describe them as "comfortable", they did the trick - they were all in labour that day or the next.

plum100 · 03/04/2011 20:53

I Had one at 1 week over , went into labour 2 days later - so not sure if it was because of that.

Didnt hurt one bit and was really exciting because she was able to tell I was already 1-2 cms dilated and she was touching the top of babys head!!!

Very encouraging. Dont worry about it - embrace it!!!

good luck - come back and tell us how you got on xx

wigglesrock · 04/04/2011 15:35

I had one with dd1 and dd2, did no good but with dd3 went for one, midwife told me nothing much happening, this was at 11.00am, went into labour at 8pm that night, unheard of for me, usually I am overdue. Good luck and if you can, go for a walk when you get back. Dd3 now 7 weeks old Grin
