Hi everyone, I'm new to this so forgive me if this question is lurking somewhere else.
I had my 16wk screening test on Friday. The midwife didnt take my blood pressure or check the babys heartbeat. I'm now hearing from other friends who are expecting that they had this done as well as the screening test.
I'm hoping to get in touch with my midwife tomorrow to ask why she didnt check my bp or babys heartbeat but do any of you now if this is the norm or if I'm becoming the overanxious mum to be I'm trying so hard not to be!!
Thanks in advance!

Although you should have your blood pressure checked at each appointment, it is less of a concern before 20 weeks (esp if you have no pre-pregnancy problems with blood pressure) and it really depends if you had an appointment last week for example she may not check it because of that. It is perfectly normal not to check for fetal heart tones at 16 weeks (in fact I don't think NICE recommends this until 20-something weeks, I forget the exact gestation). I usually offer to 'listen in' from about 16 weeks unless it is twins or the woman in question is very large and I am pretty sure I won't be able to hear anything. You see, you run the risk of not being able to find the fetal heart and causing unnecessary worry for the mum.

I only got the babys heartbeat checked with a doppler and my blood pressure checked. What is the screening test for?
