Really thirsty ALL the time - should I be worried about gestational diabetes?

Just wondering if anyone else is plagued by being really thirsty alot of the time. So far no sugar detected in my urine, my last MW appointment was 2 weeks ago and next one is my 28 week appt next week. Is it possible for it to come on suddenly within a couple of weeks? I know one of the symptoms is being really thirsty. I've been really thirsty throughout my pg so far, but the last few days it seems to have intestified.

Any thoughts or anyone else had this?

Get checked now if its really worrying you, but I had the same thing from first pg and was tested but fine. I was drinking up to 16litres of water per 24hr period!

Yes, GD is so common that it's probably worth getting tested. But pregnancy does make you thirsty... I'm drinking litre after litre of water (though probably not 16!) and my blood sugars have always been absolutely fine...

I have been thirsty since the start, am 15 weeks now. Even take water in the car on the way to work and always have a bottle next to my bed. I was OK with the sugars but seeing midwife bext week so she'll test again. And I am having the glucose tolerance test at about 24 weeks as I was overweight when the PG began. Only by 1% in the BMI result, I might add! Hmm

Hate to break the news, but my urine tests are ALWAYS ok (as are finger prick tests) - but I failed my GTT. Is your bump hard? Big? Those are signs too. Does anybody else in your family have diabetes at all?

I have GD and on insulin etc but even before I was never thirsty!!

I asked my MW about this only today! I'm so thirsty all of the time. I wake up several times a night thirsty and can bearly speak come morning! I'm 20+2.

My urine glucose tests fine, so she can't say what it is. She said she hasn't heard of it as a common pregnancy symptom, so I'm a bit baffled. Thought it must just be me in pregnancy, so glad to find this thread. I'm off to hotter climes next week, so goodness knows how much I'll be drinking there!
