Hi all,

I am pregnant with number 2. We decided to have an early scan last week and the scan showed that I was just over a week less pregnant than I thought (I thought I was 8 weeks and the scan showed 6 weeks and 6 days). I know my LMP date is right and my cycle is the same every month. The doctor said it was probably that I ovulated late but, due to illness, I know that we couldn't have conceived later.

Does this mean that the baby isn't growing properly? Anyone had the same?

I had similar experience - early scan put me back about 10 days compared to what I had thought based on LMP. But it's all just an estimate anyway, so I really wouldn't worry about it. I'm now 28+4 and baby's been growing just fine.

I'm a natural worrier and pregnancy has given me loads of new things to worry about. But so far (fingers crossed, touch wood) it's always been fine.

Try not to worry - easier said than done, I know!

Not at all, it's just really hard to pin down exact dates so early.

I had an early scan and was told I was 8+1. Three and a half weeks later I went for my official "12 week" scan expecting to be 11+1 but when they did the scan I was actually 12+5 which is more or less an exact match to the dates I had worked out (I worked my due date out as 9th September, the early scan put me at 24th September, the 12 week scan put me at 11th September which is now my official due date).

They all develop at varying rates and conception can happen up to a week after sex, then the fertilised egg has to make it's way down the tube and actually implant - some of them dawdle a little bit over this step.

Try not to worry too much, I'm sure everything is fine :)

at 6 weeks I was told I was 4! - there was no way so they though pg wasn't progressing. A week later they dated me at 7 weeks (so back in line with my dates) and there were two embryos in one sac. Now I'm 15 +3 weeks pg with id twins and wish I hadn't had the stressful week I had thinking my pg wasn't viable.

Relax - a week is nothing and dating is most acurate at 12 weeks.

I was the same as CBear as consultant said it is difficult to tell at such an realy date. When I was as they put me 12 when I was scanned at 7 weeks it turned out I was 13 +2 week as I thought by my dates.

As others have said a week is nothing and when a 'normal' pregnancy lasts between 38 and 42 weeks your EDD is only a guideline with only 5% of babies arriving on that day.

Congratulations Smile

Thanks all. I know I've been worrying unnecessarily but I don't have any symptoms this time around so am convinced it's all going wrong!

Hopefully the next scan will reassure :)
