Newborn clothes for tall babies?

I saw my mw this week and she thinks I will be having a tall and skinny baby :) can anyone recommend a good place to buy clothes that cater for the slightly taller newborn? I have two weeks left and panicking, whilst my other two children were tall this one feels more so (gulp) so any help woud be fab.

Just get a bigger size. Ds was born prem but very long and skinny. I had to get a bigger size than his weight to accommodate his length.

I would just go for 0-3 months. If you are getting newborn stuff maybe some footless babygros? Or Scandanavian brands - tall Mum-to-be here, these are just my ideas for when the time comes as they keep saying how long the baby is!

Footless babygrows the way to go IMO. My tall skinny baby outgrew things lengthwise before she fit into them widthwise so going up a size didn't really work.

footless may be worth considering, although my taller one always looked a bit silly in them cos his legs would be much longer so it fit him fine on the top half then the legs part is finishing well before his ankles cos of being tall, but maybe depends what shop you get it from?
generally vertbaudet is good for skinnier or long babies as they are a more narrow fit so you can just move up to next size for length and it wont be so wide on them, also h&m is fairly narrow i think?

DS was tall and skinny. 0-3 size stuff was far, far too baggy. Ended up cutting the feet off new baby size stuff, then buying footless romper suits. I put him outfits pretty young as his length is mostly in his body, so anything with a body (sleepsuits, dungarees...) was pretty short lived.

I'm going to save this thread for a reminder, nowhere near B-day yet but I think I'm going to have a long and skinny. My OH is 6ft7 and when he was born he was the longest baby they'd ever had at that hospital! hahaha

I come from a tall family and even with it skipping my generation the men are all 6 foot and over so will also be holding on to this thread. DP's family are super tall too, it is freaking me out about the giving birth stage but at least I will now have some idea's as to what to do clothing wise!

Footless baby grows worked best with my v long first born. Everything we had with feet in it just wouldn't fit him at all. His torso was also very long so most of the tiny baby vests just wouldn't stretch to do up over his bum. But we also used cloth nappies so the added bulk didn't help either I suspect.

hmm we were told to expect a tall baby too (I'm 5'8" and DH is 6'5") but DD was born and was only 25th centile for length . But both DH and I shot up when we were teenagers and weren't particularly tall as babies/children. So - you may not have to worry about this just yet! :)

MW's have been known to get it wrong. Even if she's not wrong you are trying to find a perfect fit for a child you've never seen, let alone measured. Just get a mix of newborn and 0-3 and see where you go from there. No ones baby ever properly fits all thier clothes in the under 6 month sizes anyway.

DD is tallish, but with really long legs. She didn't look very long when she was born, but as soon as she stretched a leg out it was obvious that newborn clothes wouldn't work. We have bought lots of footless rompers. Depending on the season you can find these in lots of places. In autumn the only place I found them was Boden. She virtually lives in her footless rompers. And don't forget to buy some socks. We had to return lots of gifts as they just wouldn't fit. She moved up to 6-9 month clothes just before 4 months.

Thanks for all your advice! He was long and skinny and at 6 weeks he is in H&M 2-4 months and Next 0-3 months which are working out well. Plus if the sun ever comes out again footless rompers are my friend :)

Don't buy H&M 4-6 months. I've got some for my giant and long-legged 11 week old and he will only be in them for another couple of weeks I think, whereas Mothercare, Sainsbury's and JojoMaman are all coming up much bigger.

Don't buy anything in M&S they only make short and very wide

It has to be Hennes all the way. Mine both have long bodies and H&M is the only place whose clothes always fit in the right months.
Mothercare is next best but over priced and hideously styled.
H&M always sell out and have three times as many girls than boys which really pees me off.
But I still buy their clothes for my 4yr old who is in my opini

If you have cash then buy Scandinavian as my aunt lives in Sweden and everything she sent is long &skinny. Also petit bateux but v pricey

You could just cut the feet off any babygrows you've already got. DS was in the 95th percentile for length - we used baby nightgowns for awhile as it was easier to change him, esp at night - I couldn't be doing with all those press studs during the horrendous sleep deprivation. It is maddening when you get halfway up & realise you've gone wrong! & he looked so cute, like a little angel in them!

We have the opposite problem, a slim but "average" length DS who was drowned in newborn stuff for his first few weeks. Whilst it's not directly helpful, depending on what you already have, in our experience Mothercare babygros have come up long as has NB stuff from Primark and Matalan. Boots and Tescos stuff is smaller.
