Hi - sorry for TMI but I'm 35+5 today (3rd baby!) and last night from about 6pm I was having contractions on and off, pretty strong and mildly painful and kept getting that feeling like you really need to poo! also felt the baby's head bearing down - I didn't have the runs or anything but did wake up at 4.30am with what I thought was a big contraction and then needed to rush to the loo - again didn't have the runs just needed to poo - it scared me as when I had my DC2 the feeling to push was exactly the same as that - do you think its a good sign the baby is coming soon!! living in hope as suffering from SPD and things extremely painful/debilitating now!

Did your symptoms ease off once you had a poo, I know when I need to go I get really strong pains, but once i have been they ease off. Sad

not really - once I'd been to the loo I had a few contractions/period type pains after then they must have gone cos I went back to sleep! Nothing this am though other than braxton hicks! Guess things are just getting ready!!

My friend had this several weeks before she was due with her 4th baby, there like trial runs of labour but was that strong she actually thought she was in labour! But just false alarms! She gave birth at full term! I know it's a pain in the ass, literally! But relax, you'll know when things really get going! Ive had a bit of a virus these last couple of days where when Ive eaten something, I've had to go to the toilet straight after, but not diarreer, just loose, but had loads of cramping pains and Braxton hicks!
But I would maybe give your midwife a call and they can check to see whether your dilating or not, as if things are starting to happen, you are a little early so they need to be aware!! X x x

Thanks, Someone else has posted above a similar thing so guess its just normal pre-labour type stuff, I don't think I'll make it to 40 weeks - I had similar experience with my DD and she came at 38+1, If I can hang on one more week I'll be able to go to the Birth Centre!!! Will keep you posted!
