Fleece baby blanket, a good or bad idea?

Do fleece blankets make babies sweat? Wondering if its such a good idea to get one or would a knitted blanket be better?

we have a couple and they are lovely and snuggly but probably best not for a newborn - you need something breathable - cellular ones are best. Nice in the pram or when you are always around rather than in the cot /moses basket

Fleece blankets are very practical when they're a bit older - chuck 'em in the wash, dry quickly, good to go again.

I used them with both of mine, one winter and one spring baby. We have only just got rid of the pram size ones, dd's are 8 and 5. We kept them in the car as 'car seat blankets'.
