Are there any health reasons for not wearing underwired bras ... or can I continue to wear them?

The new school of thought is that if they are properly fitted you are fine to continue wearing them throughout pregnancy. Reason for suggestions not to in past was worry that ill-fitting underwires could damage tissue involved in milk production.

In first pregnancy I wore non-underwired in last 3 months for this reason, but to be honest with 2nd and 3rd pregnancy I just found underwires too uncomfortable near the end even though I wasn't worried about 'damage'.

Unfortunately, there is no non-underwired bra out there that I have found that gives as nice a shape as underwired. :(

I am wearing non wired but only because they are more comfortable for my big bust.

It's fine, just get what's comfy!

As long as they fit properly there's no reason you shouldn't. I'm the opposite of lolajane - I find that for my narrow back and big bust I need the wiring!

I wore underwired bras throughout my first pregnancy (well-fitting and comfortable ones) and went on to breastfeed for a year, so no probs there. However, with this pregnancy my boobs have changed a lot more and my underwired bras no longer fit. In fact, underwire isn't comfy at all this time round.

So, go with how you feel, I say - if underwired bras fit you well and are comfortable, there's no reason not to wear them!!
