Cover up bump or show it loud and proud!

I?m going to a party this weekend. I?ll be 18+5 and have quite a prominent bump already. Most of my ?nice? dresses no longer fit but I have one that does and I love it! It does make my bump look slightly bigger than it is though. The alternative is a smock dress which will cover bump but could just make me look chunky. Do I cover up and save myself from ?wow ? aren?t you big already ? imagine how big you?ll be in at 9 months? or show off my bump and be proud? x

I say show off the bump :) Chunky is not a good look ;)

BikeRunSki · 31/03/2011 09:31

Loud and proud. I can't stand those flappy maternity tops.

jezebelle · 31/03/2011 09:33

Show it off, i'm wearing a lot of my pre pregnancy clothes, they're just tight over my huge 28 week bump :)

nomoreheels · 31/03/2011 09:37

I love showing mine off with bodycon type tops and dresses with opaque tights or leggings. Show off those curves, anyone who has anything negative to say is not worth your time anyhow!

Pesha · 31/03/2011 09:37

Show it off!

Save the smocks to cover the bump you're left with when you've had the baby!

Joannezipan · 31/03/2011 09:38

Wear the pretty dress - there will be plenty of time for looking frumpy later on :o I would like to wear some of my pre-preg clothes, but i'm worried i'll stretch them out and then i won't have anything to wear afterwards.

NatzCNL · 31/03/2011 09:39

Show it off! Im 15 weeks and am at that 'fat' stage when it's not too obvious that it is a baby bump and not a pie eating bump. Cant wait to get a proper little bump and display it for all to see. This is bump number 3 by the way, and my other two were shown in tight fitting tops with great pride Grin

Newmummytobe79 · 31/03/2011 09:40

Thank you so much ladies! I really want to and haven't a clue why I feel nervous 'outing' it ... I shall show it off loud and proud! I think hubby likes me showing it off too :) x

God that's not showing it off.

I mean crop tops and hotpants are showing it off.

You'll be clothed and in an appropriate way for the function. I think when you've spent weeks feeling knackered and sick, if you have an outfit you like, that fits and you feel confident it, bloody well wear it. When pregnant I tend to wrap myself in a tarp and hide.

But still no to crop tops and hotpants.

I alternative between revealing and concealing, depending on whether I want to be the STAR OF THE SHOW (yippee!!) or have a chilled-out, normal time with friends.

At the weekend, I wore a very bump hugging dress to a family function because I knew everyone would want to pat/stroke/obsess over my bump. But when I went to the pub with friends, I wore a loose blouse because I just wanted to relax with friends and talk about normal, non-me-related things!

SavannahRose · 31/03/2011 16:23

Show it off!! its only going to get bigger and you will be questioning it then. I loved showing mine off, but now at 29 weeks i am living in my pj's or whatever is comfy!! :)

highheelsandequations · 31/03/2011 17:01

Show it off! I feel fat and frumpy in baggy clothes and lovely and pregnant in fitted things :)

Boosaphena · 31/03/2011 19:19

Show it off defo! I don't tend to get very big and would live a lovely big bump so make the most of it!

daimbardiva · 31/03/2011 20:55

Show it off - it's something to be proud of, and you can get away with wearing tight things when you've got a lovely bump, you won't for at least the first wee while after birth (unless you are very lucky!)

bessie26 · 31/03/2011 21:13

Defn show it off - pregnant & proud! Grin

Do be careful about wearing your pre-pg clothes though, I carried on wearing a few of my favourite tops when I was pg with DD & was gutted when I put them on post-pg & realised how much I had stretched them Sad

del1 · 31/03/2011 21:38

I think seeing a pregnant woman showing her bump looks beautifull.
I loved showing my last two off.
I am at the chubby looking stage with my 3rd one, so feeling a bit unconfident now. Dont want to wish my time away, but looking forward to wearing fitted tops.
Dont worry about any size comments.
People will comment whatever size you are, and whatever you wear!!

TransatlanticCityGirl · 31/03/2011 23:47

I'm writing this from Jamaica right now and say show it off... I'm 28 weeks and still wearing my pre-pregnancy bikinis... didn't bother with the ugly maternity bathing suits. :)

witches · 01/04/2011 17:41

Totally agree with all above - fitted dresses show you still have a shape! I am busty and look like im wearing a tent with anything baggy. Yes you get the people who will give the ' gosh your going to be soooo big' I have said before on one of these threads that people seem to especially enjoy it if you were nice and slim before - makes them feel better if they are bigger! These people will help me to lose it all afterwards.Wink

TransatlanticCityGirl · 01/04/2011 18:47

Ha! Love it, witches :)

coastgirl · 01/04/2011 18:52

I'm 21 weeks and I was just thinking I wish my bump was just this size all the way through pregnancy! It's big enough to show off - I wear fitted stuff quite often - but not so big as to be an annoyance really.
