Free prescriptions

Just wondering how and when everyone got their card for free prescriptions.

I'm 28 weeks and forgot to ask at my last GP appointment. When I was pregnant with my DD I didn't get the card at all, didn't really bother with it as I didn't need it. Do I need to fill in a form, or should my GP have done it automatically? Looks as though I will have to chase them for it.

My midwife filled in the form for mine at about 8 weeks and the certificate & card arrived in the post about a week or two later.
Ring and ask about it, it's really worth it for dental treatment etc.

Got my application form from my GP on my first appointment. Arrived in the post a few days later.

Same here. Midwife filled out the form at 8 week appointment and I got it through the post about a week later. I had to post the application form off though. The midwife just filled it in and signed it for me.

My drs and midwife never mentioned this to me and I didn't worry as I already get free prescriptions for another reason, but a few weeks ago I wanted free dental treatment which is the same card. I rang my GP surgery who said I could just go in and fill in a form so I did. The card came through the post a week or two later (too late for my dentist appointment but the dentist receptionist didn't charge me anyway, possibly because at 32 weeks it was obvious I was pregnant).

First time I got it within 2 weeks of booking appointment, second time I had to chase it up, as the form apparently got lost in the post. Had to fill a new one in and then got it within 2 weeks.
