Just had my first cup ( am almost 38wks) & am relieved it's actually quite drinkable! Does anyone know how much of the stuff am I supposed to drink?

I read on another thread, about pineapples, that the idea behind that was to give you the runs. Not sure if this is the same principle behind raspberry leaf tea.

Ewwww! Perhaps I'll stick to just one cup a day for now!

I thought it was supposed to help make your contractions more efficient?

It is meant to tone your uterus, so yes, it does help make your contractions more efficient. Not sure how much you're menat to have I'm afraid.

I've read that you start with one cup a day and work your way up to 4-5 a day (by your due date, I presume...).

Katietatie123 · 30/03/2011 15:36

I bought some yesterday (the loose tea rather than tea bags) and the lady in the shop told me that I could have 3 cups per day (I'm 38 wks). She warned me that it tastes 'earthy' and to put some cinnammon or honey in to make it more bearable. I've not braved it yet....

i bought some t bags from holland & barrat & theyre nice (!!) just like any other rasberry tea Hmm maybe Ive bought the wrong thing?
I've been having about 4 cups a day since sunday but no baby yet so maybe I need more...

bessie26 · 30/03/2011 16:33

oggy I don't think it's supposed to make baby appear any earlier, it just "tones" your uterus (thank-you daim!) so making your contractions more efficient when you are in labour & helping everything recover quicker too (fingers crossed!)

I've got the H&B tbags too, & thought they tasted really nice!

Drank loads with DC2, don't know if it helped but had first contraction at 11pm and gave birth at 3.45 am. Used to drink it with honey too.

If I got pregnant again I would definitely drink loads.

doodledee · 30/03/2011 19:43

Was drinking about 5 cups at term - 1st baby, 1st contraction 16.00 - baby here at 18.57. Could just be coincidental of course

JollySergeantJackrum · 30/03/2011 19:51

Google says to build up to 4 cups a day.

I started with one cup a day at 36 weeks. Now 37+5 and drinking two a day. Will probably go up to 3 on Friday. Got two packs of 20 for £1.50 from Holland and barrett this week.

I'm going to be sad after this baby comes and I have to stop drinking it. Off to have a bath soon and another cup :D

You can also take the capsules if you don't like the tea, does the same job and is often purer/stronger than the tea (if it contains a low percentage of leaf)...

LadyOfTheManor · 30/03/2011 20:32

I took 4 capsules a day from 35 weeks.

My ds was born within 4 hours, naturally at home.
