What can I do for my OH?

I'm wondering (already) of something to make/buy for my OH as a new baby prezzie if that makes any sense!

Does anyone have any suggestions or stories to share?

I've got 33 weeks to research and sort it!! :)

Inspiration from Sex and the City, so possibly not the best/appropriate for everybody, but... [draws breath] If you're female, a tasteful naked pic of you pregnant? You can get them done professionally for not very much.

(So sorry if this is not your thing and I've brought on some non-pregnancy related nausea)

I've stolen this from another thread (and bought it for my DP!).

Isn't the baby you're growing inside you enough?

Don't gild the lily.

kat2504 · 30/03/2011 06:36

I agree, the baby is quite enough, no other present can even come close to that.

I'm really surprised at the amount of "isn't the baby enough?" that I see in these threads. Don't get me wrong, if that's how you feel then that's your choice. However, I also feel like I want to get my DH a little something other than the baby. He has done, and taken on so much for me through my pregnancy that I really don't know where I'd be without him. And I certainly NEVER expected it, he just did it.

I know that some may say "well he should" but no not necessarily. I read threads where husbands and partners don't seem to be all that fussed about the fact that their other half is pregnant and I think it's a lovely thought to show just how much you've appreciated the help and support you've had from your partner with a nice gift that you've put some thought into.

If he wears cufflinks, engraved cufflinks with the baby's name and date of birth (after the birth, obviously)? I got some for DH after DD was born....may have been from Not on the High Street (sorry about that).

FWIW, he got me an eternity ring and I got him a (very) nice watch he'd been hankering after for years. We don't have the cash to splash about this time, but will come up with something.

I like sticking to the watch/jewellery/cufflinks theme because it's stuff that can be worn as a constant reminder.

Friends did the fingerprint cufflinks/jewellery after their DCs were born and said that was good too.

And once the baby's here and a couple of months old, you can have lots of fun at a ceramics cafe with footprints on mugs, coasters and so on for your OH and the rest of the family!

I got my hubby a manly changing bag and packed it. I then got him a new daddy survival kit which consisted of daft things like disposable gloves for the nappy changing, ear plugs, a bottle of cider, a book for new dads which doesn't have long chapters and condoms because I don't think he can cope with another 9 months of me being pregnant just yet haha.
I gave it to him when I was 37 weeks and it was the 1st time he'd got really excited. I think.it was because he finally could get involved with baby and realised that he was really important.

MrsBloomingTroll · 30/03/2011 10:00

Speedbump that's a good idea!

My DH has the Storksak Jamie bag like this and uses it as a man-bag as well as a changing bag, loves it.

Riddzy · 30/03/2011 10:02

Love that idea and am going to steal it, Speedbump!

Speedbump · 30/03/2011 10:41

No problem, I just used the free Boots changing bag and he's so chuffed that he has his own that he doesn't care haha.
My bag is a spotty Cath Kidston satchel that was my handbag and he looked at me in disgust when I told him I would convert it into a changing bag.

I hope your men are as pleased as mine was :D

When it was valentines day I was in Clintons and saw these dinky little Me-To-You bears, I just HAD to get one, Im due 7th June so if our baby is 12 days late she will be born on fathers day :) Anyway, the bear I got is holding a red heart and it says "I Love You Daddy" on it :) So I'm packing it in my hospital bag and I'm going to give it to him when she's been born! Also I'm going to leave it as late as possible and do a 'Demi Moore' for him. I might give it to him for his birthday which is 6th may. Bear

He should be buying you something! That said, it all pales into insignificance. My husband presented me with a lovely Bottega Veneta bag and I was like 'nice bag. Anyway...'

I did give my husband money for a second hand Porsche though. I guess he considered that a birth present.
