30 weeks and still have a spare room that is a spare room and not baby's room. No pram, no moses basket, no re-usable nappies cos can't decide what make, size, two parters or three parters to get. Don't know if I should buy a few bottles and formula just incase the boobies decide not to work or just to assume they will do their job, I mean why shouldn't they?! House is still very much a grown up couples house! I have a drawer with a few vests, baby grows and a couple of summer outfits and that's it. Christ I feel so un-prepared! And knowing my luck she'll arrive early and I'll still have bugger all! tries to stop running round with hair on fire Confused

I'm 35 weeks and feel much the same. My spare room looks like a bomb site with all the plaster off the walls and DH keeps finding more jobs that need to be done in there before it can even be decorated and turned into a nursery. I am resigned to the fact that the baby probably won't have a nursery ready when it is born. We do have a pram and a Moses basket but no car seat yet. I told DH we will have to walk home from the hospital after the baby is born at this rate (I could physically walk that distance but not within hours of giving birth). I have bought a few items of clothing and been given a lot of second hand, but they are in carrier bags in our room as we have nowhere to put them until we have a nursery with furniture. I have yet to buy any non-bio washing powder so I can wash them. We also want to use reusable nappies but don't know which ones or where we are going to get them from. It's a nightmare :( I don't know if we will ever be ready.

The hospitals used to have small ready to drink formula bottles & disposable teats so you could maybe check that these are available if you are having hospital birth?

Don't know if I am just v laid back or it's because I've got other kids but I wouldn't worry about the nursery etc, a lot of people have baby in their room at first, as long as you have nappies, wipes, creams & a few vests/ babygros your baby will be fine.

Same here too - I will be 35 weeks tomorrow and it is only just now that things are starting to 'come together' We bought our moses basket from amazon just a few weeks back, and the pram and car seat, although bought and paid for (again just a few weeks ago), is still residing in the shop. Just this weekend we have taken the bookcases out of the spare room/nursery so it is just beginning to look vaguely like it is supposed to have a baby in it. Fortunately we had only just decorated before i got my BFP - last room to be done!

I'll be 37 weeks with DC2 on thursday and only just started getting organised this week.
Your spare room will probably still be a spare room in 4 months, even if it's decorated, so i wouldn't worry about that..
all baby needs is somewhere to sleep, something to drink and something to wear, and some nappies. your bed, your boobies, the vests and some/any nappies will do if you don't manage to get organised, but I'm sure you will!

With reusable nappies I would suggest getting some two-parters, either fitted nappies with wraps or prefolds with wraps because you'll be doing a lot of changing at the early stages, and wraps are usually better at containing messes than, for example, AIOs or pocket nappies.

Here's some suggestions that I hope will help you;

  1. Car seat
  2. Moses basket & bedding
  3. Pram
  4. Baby gro's, vests and cardigans and out and about blankets
  5. Disposable nappies until you decide with some cotton wool/wipes

Your nursery can be decorated when baby is ready to into her own room and you can buy bottles/formula if you need to after she's born. Go online and order everything to be delivered to you! Good luck!
