MW felt for the babies( im carrying twins) and my notes say 3-4/5 palpable on twin 1 ...which means what exactly?

I am going into be induced next week anyway at 36 weeks...as they are ID am just wondering what it means.....

Thanks.

Means twin 1 has engaged in your pelvis at height 3-4, which I think is just dipping below your pelvis. 5 is pelvis height, 1 is right down at the entrance to the birth canal. Palpable means they can palpate, or feel it.

I had exactly the same on my notes! It means twin 1's head is starting to engage, but only v little at the mo. It's also subjective, my hospital notes from 2 weeks ago said 3-4/5 but my midwife yesterday put 4/5 (which is less engaged). They just do it by feeling how far down into the pelvis the baby's head is. Hope that helps and good luck next week Smile
