Hi all,
I got a letter today from community midwives about my recent urine test which i did last week at booking in appointment, I am 9+2 weeks today.
The letter said the lab have requested another sample, it is nothing to worry about, a copy of letter was sent to GP and I should give another sample at next midwife appointment?! Hmm
My next midwife appointment is not untill I will be 16 weeks!! Is it not strange that if the lab wants another sample that they would wait another 6-7 weeks to get it?! Hmm
Do you think there was a problem with the sample?
Has this happened to anyone else?
I am so confused! Confused

Why don't you give them a ring?

They used to dip my sample at the appointment and give it back to me. The result was immediate. I'm wondering why they sent it off.

same with me, my midwife tested it there and then. immediate results. i would call them.

The booking in urine goes off for culture.

It's possible they found something and want to check its not contamination.

Equally they may have lost or mislabelled your sample.

If they say no need to worry, then its really not a biggie.

mine was checked there and then at a booking in. maybe its different in different areas?

I had exactly this - the MW dips it at the appointment which gives her a good idea that there is nothing amiss, but then sends it off for cultures anyway at my GP practice. Turns out that the sample was contaminated & this happens all the time.

Advice the doc gave me for the next sample was: aim to catch your sample mid-stream (i.e. not the first bit) and don't use the daft tiny pots, get a bigger pot. :)
