I am 20 weeks pregnant and for the last 4 weeks or I have been experiences constant visual disturbances and headaches. I am finding this increasingly difficult to deal with and was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this?

I think you should get it checked out - could be a sign of high blood pressure?

MadreInglese · 25/03/2011 13:50

sounds like migraines, or could be increased blood pressure

best to check with your midwife IMO

Bideyin · 25/03/2011 13:50

I had this and it turned out to be migraine but you need to get it checked out asap as could be a sign of high blood pressure.

You need to speak to your mw today so that she can check you over. It may be nothing but it may be something potentially serious. Please give her a call, she won't mind.

Thanks for your posts, I've had my blood pressure checked and this is normal. It could be migraine but it seems strange that it doesn't come and go, it just stays there all the time without let up.

are you drinking plenty of water?

When did you have your BP checked? When was your last check up, and have you told your MW about these symptoms?

I'm with hotels: unless you've been thoroughly checked and these symptoms discussed in the last few days, get in touch with your MW or GP today.

Have you also had your blood count done? When I was badly anaemic I got headaches and my vision kept tipping 90 degrees...made me think I was in an earthquake. If you havent has this check done and also your bp, get it done now!

machairs · 25/03/2011 16:07

Speak to your MW first to rule out high bp. If that's not the cause it may be a visual migraine - I had them in my last pregnancy and the optician confirmed it for me when I had my last eye test. Freaked me out each time they occurred and I hope that they are just pg related.

Please get your BP checked today! And don't take anyones word that it's 'OK' till you've checked it against your pregnancy notes. Mine was 'OK' at 115/78 with no protein in my urine, then I had an eclamptic seizure, what they didn't do was check it against my normal pregnancy BP which is around 100/60. A rise of 15 or more on the lower number needs serious attention. If you can't get hold of your community midwife, see if a local pharmacy has a BP checking service just for peace of mind today.
Not trying to worry you, just want you to be safely checked.Smile
