Sick with blood in it? Is this possible?

As has been my habit for the past 7 weeks I was sick this morning - just bile.

But weirdly it looked like there were bits of blood in it.

Is that
a) possible ?
b) worrying ?

The "blood" was dark red/brown colour.

Funnily enough I've just started to feel better, no longer throwing up 4-5 times a day, mainly just in the morning now.

Yes, I'd say it's quite normal especially being sick on an empty stomach. Bursting tiny blood vessels from the force can cause this.

I had this a few times. Freaked out the first time, but once I'd stopped picturing death scenes reminiscent of Steel Magnolias calmed down, I figured it was probably just my throat getting irritated from all the puking.

Hope you continue to feel better, MS is pretty miserable.

i have been sick pretty much every day for the past 10 weeks

more often than not i vomit blood, but normally bright red fresh blood.

My GP is not concerned and says its normal.

if i know im going to be very sick (sometimes you just know) i take gaviscon so being sick isnt quite so painful, less acidic and sometime has less blood.

My violent sickness has also caused me to have nose bleeds, and also to bleed 'down there' Sad which is very worrying at the time, but Dr / midwife are not worried.

hope you feel better soon X

Hi nannyl, ask your doctor for Ranitidine, it's an antacid definitely safe when you're preggers and really helps with making the bile less burny. Once I'd started on this my throat bled at lot less often and when it did it wasn't nearly as bad.
They gave it me in hospital after a particularly violent puking session ruptured a load of blood vessles in my throat and make it bleed really heavily for ages. This was a final straw and resulted in a fit of self pity induced tears!
Although it's pretty unpleasant it really isn't harmful at all so try not to wory too much.

I had this too, and is grim but harmless. I found yogurt helped - it comes back up far more easily than anything else (if you can face it).

I am already taking anti sick tabs etc (I have hyperemisis and have been in hospital too Sad)
have been having them for at least 9 weeks now Hmm

I always tried to drink some water if I knew I was going to be sick, so it wouldn't be as painful. at least it makes the start of it slightly more pleasant.
