Does this sound like SPD?

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and I think I am developing SPD. Or something is wrong. For about the last week I have been having really low back pain, really low down in my coccyx, and aching in my hips. I've done quite a long drive today and now have shooting pains down my thighs and in my pelvis. I have one other child but haven't experienced this in pregnancy before.

My spd didn't affect my back, Georgi, but the hip and pelvic pain sounds like it. I had it with two pg's and would describe the pain as a real grating right in the pubic bone, sometimes to the point of being unable to walk. The fact that it's worse after a long drive does ring true, also. Mine was always exasurbated by sitting/standing for long periods. I'd mention it to your midwife, she'll be able to advise. If it's any consolation, the symptoms disappeared immediately after birth both times!

Thank you herbie, I know SPD can be horrendous but in a way I am glad it is probably "just" that ie not something wrong with the baby.

I will ring MW - I am not due to see her again until 28 weeks but I can't wait that long, not like this.

uh-oh I'm getting same symptoms and was starting to wonder the same...have felt like I've had a bruised coccyx for about a week now, aching lower back and getting pain in my hips especially when sitting down or lying down for long periods in the same position Shock

Hi I was told I had this by my physio (different issue) today, I have back pain, hip and pelvis pain, my physio said it used to be called SPD but they changed it to pelvic girdle pain because people didnt realise SpD can occur in your back.

I'm 24 weeks today and just had to get out of bed after lying awake for the last 2 hours getting more and more uncomfortable. I'll be seeing my midwife soon so will have to demand some assistance....I'm a tad concerned about how bad its going to get if its this uncomfy now Sad
