Bump Bands and Where to Buy Them?

My jeans are starting to dig in and become uncomfortable, especially when sitting down. So its time to start looking at Bump/Belly bands.

Can anyone recommend where to buy them? There seems to be a huge difference in price. Are they all the same or do you get what you pay for?

www.bumpband.co.uk/ - they are great. I wear mine most days and have one in black and white. They are a bit more expensive than the New Look / Top Shop ones but I think they fit better.

They have a pack of 2 (one black and one white) in Matalan for £8!

I bought the pack of 3 in New Look for a tenner when I was about 20 weeks and they were a little baggy. However at 26+3, they now fit great. Depends on your size and shape of your bump (mine's all front)and how tight you want them.

Dissapointed with my "Bumpband". More expensive than a lot of others. Bought the recommended size and at 32 weeks, it's still too big :(

A friend got a couple on boots online store as they were on 3 for 2 and has had better luck with less expensive brands!

Bought the 3 for £10 from New Look, they are nice, but at 32+2 starting to get quite tight now. It's possible to outgrow your maternity clothes, sigh...

I got mine in Matalan, pack of two, one white, one black, can't remember how much but they've been great. Would recommend

Another person disappointed with Bumpband I'm nearly 27 weeks, and it's way too big I had assumed it might be useful from at least 20 weeks or so. As I mentioned on another thread, it's probably because I'm right on the border of their two sizes (size 14 pre-preg), but in retrospect it doesn't seem that surprising that something supposedly fitting all the way from size 14 - 18 might be a bit baggy for people at the smaller end of that range.... so next time I'd go for something that comes in a wider range of sizes or start off with something smaller than my pre-preg size for the 2nd trimester.

I bought mine off eBay!

I bought mine from NCT website. With hindsight it is one of the more expensive ones but I'm fine with that as am happy to support NCT by buying their stuff (most of their things are quite competitive price-wise).

I'm very happy with the quality and fit. They must come up quite big as I bought the smaller of the 2 available sizes (for people up to a size 12 pre-pregnancy, and I was a 12). It's very comfy and has transformed my wardrobe. I showed it to my work colleagues who are older than me and have long since had their children and they all want one for those occasions when they go out to dinner and eat a bit too much!!

Ummm I'm being thick...what is a bump band and what is it for?

Cattleprod · 31/03/2011 10:13

I got a pack of 3 from Ebay. Black, brown and dusky pink, for £15. They are good quality double thickness fabric, and I didn't want to waste money on a white one which I won't wear.

Joannezipan - they are a bit like large boob tubes and you wear them over your baby bump to cover the space between your top and trousers, and disguise the fact that you can't do up your trousers anymore! Lets you wear normal clothes for a bit longer.

LearningFast · 31/03/2011 10:39

Just a tip for wearing bump bands... if they are over the top of your pre-pregnancy trousers, and you can no longer do up the flies, make sure the bump band is pulled down far enough to cover your modesty...

I've just had a very embarrassing moment where I walked across the office in front of a new client, saw him looking down at my bump region, followed his gaze and realised I was flashing more than I would have liked...

Thanks for all the ideas. Looks like I might give the Bumpband a miss then.

I like the NCT website. Thanks LearningFast, I hadnt heard of them. I might order from there and will let you know how it goes. :)
