Okay so I went to the GP this morning to let them know I am pregnant and my (new) GP was virtually mute and not enormously helpful at all - anyway, before she shoooed me out of her office, she said that she 'would make the referral'.

Would it be for my 12 week scan? Or to the midwives? She did manage to ask me which hospital I would prefer (Queen Charlotte)

Sorry if this is a totally idiotic question. It's my first baby and so am just not au fait with the process!

It'll be to the midwife for your booking appointment. In my area this is at about 8 weeks. They will then send you an appointment for your 12 week scan.
Congratulations :)

i felt like that too - i rang the surgery (like you're told to do) and they said "ring the midwife" and i was like "and she would be..... and her phone number would be...and she's where...?"

first PG, not got a clue what I'm doing and they fobbed me off like that!
Shock

oh, i rang the midwife, and she said i had to go for an appointment on 15th april, which would be 5/6 weeks?
she said it's mainly asking questions and filling in forms.
i asked if i needed to bring anything, and she said a urine sample would be helpful (and lovely, the yuck stuff begins. not sure how much I want all this personal stuff)
