Sorry if TMI, but the last few times I've been for a wee I've felt a sharp pain across the top of my bump... anybody else had this?

Might be an early sign of a UTI..probably best to get it checked....Oh, the joys of late pregnancy..Smile

Oh, do you think? I hadn't considered that as it is so high up, pretty much just under my bust - it's almost like a sharp stitch.

hummm...Is your baby head down, does he/she tend to beat you up under your ribs?? It could be from this..

When I had a UTI, my pain was on one side at my rib-cage...So just instantly made me think of this, as you said you get it when you go for a wee??

Maybe give the MW a call and get her opinion?

FanellaFox · 24/03/2011 14:59

Head most definately down, I'm already doing the trying-not-to-let-it-drop-out walk! I can feel knees and feet all the time, but the pain is slightly above them.

My MW is really stressy overworked and I don't want to bother her unless I think it's urgent.

I would google, but that's always been a bad move in the past!

Is a UTI something they can test for when I go to clinic? I have an appointment next week.

I had this really bad at 32-34 weeks when I grew quickly. Felt sharp and mainly one side. Found out it was rib flare. I guess it's from all the stretching. It was agony. Tried all sorts of things, but only things that made it any better was sitting on a ball, and cold compress over the pain (hot made it worse). It settled about a week later. Sympathy.

Thanks raspberryhead. It only happens when I go for a wee though, and stops straight after, very strange, and like nothing I've had before, and I have suffered UTI's in the past... although that would be the thing that makes the most sense as it does just happen when I pee!

Yes...they will just take a urine sample and should be able to tell from that. In the meantime, drink tons of water- this will be the most important thing to do if you do have a UTI, and won't hurt you if it turns out you don't have one.

Also my bump growth has slowed down quite considerably. I ballooned at about 24 weeks and have pretty much stayed the same since!

Thanks Leila - I will do. Actually, come to think of it I probably haven't been drinking as much as usual, and have had an awful cold... UTI is making more and more sense!
