Need a meternity dress to wear to a wedding next month

One of my best friends is getting married in a month and I need a dress to wear to the civil ceremony.
I will be 32 weeks, am only 5?0? and usually a size 10 so the bump already looks huge!
Plus as am soo small, cannot get away with the Maxi style as all are too long for me!

I need to buy a dress to wear (don't have anything at all) and don't know what to do.
Finances are tight so seems silly to buy a dress which I know I will only wear once (this is 2nd and last, child)
Have been on Ebay and nothing there appeals at all.

But soo many of the dresses are not dressy and more for standard day wear
Do like one dress off Asos and one off very.co.uk. but neither is cheap

Anyone have any suggestions? Am really worried I will look like a frump on the day!

Can we have a link to the two you like to see what sort of thing you like?

Leilababyno1 · 24/03/2011 14:11

Have you tried New Look maternity online or Peacocks maternity online...both have a cheap price range....

greenzebra · 24/03/2011 14:21

Maybe as a last resort get a black maternity dress say from new look and dress it up with a fancy cardigan or wrap, that doesnt have to be maternity, could save on the pounds, also dress it up with good shoes and a sparkley handbag/clutch.

Here's the one's i liked, really like the asos one
think i have to steer clear of long ones as will probably drag on the ground and want to avoid too short as so late in pregnancy, my legs aren't the most attractive :-)

That asos dress is lovely. Asos have got quite a lot of dresses in their clearance section here, anything you like in there?

How about this? (ruffles are a bit weird), this? (the pink is fairly similar to the colour of the dress you liked), this?, or this?

greenzebra · 24/03/2011 14:32

asos one is lovely and I was really surprised it was that cheap, but know what you mean about it being worn once.

bessie26 · 24/03/2011 14:39

I got a really nice BF dress for my SIL wedding from here which was quite reasonable (£40 I think) - am hoping I get an excuse to wear it again this pg!

Have a look on the dorothy perkins website they have got mamlicious dresses int eh maternity section around the 30 pound mark

natwebb79 · 24/03/2011 19:19

Just a word of caution on the asos dress - the model is 5'11" so it will be quite a lot longer on you - it is lovely though

AgBag · 25/03/2011 15:29

www.tiffanyrose.com/ has nice maternity wear for special occasions

RingEir · 25/03/2011 17:27

I am about half an inch taller than you, and normally 10/12. I am finding it very hard to find m-wear that is not too long but I bought this dress in Topshop recently, and it fits very well.

www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=2300818&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208537&parent_categoryId=203984&pageSize=20

It might be a bit casual, but you could dress it up with accessories and you would probably get to wear it again. The asos dress is more elegant though.

This is my other 'good' dress, from M&S

Very comfortable and easy to wear.
