oh yes, been there done that!

vickibee · 24/03/2011 10:12

Much easier for the male spieces - perhaps the container was invented by a man, If a woamn had invented it perhaps it might work

thumbwitch · 24/03/2011 10:12

I hate doing wee specimens.
but - it helps if you wait until you have flow going - and it helps the flow go in a straight line if you squeeze it out.

HTH :)

I use a jug and then pour it into the container, I can hold the jug between my legs without holding it. Much easier that trying to pee into a little container getting it all over yourself.

I decided to do this after peeing on myself while doing the pregnancy test, ended up peeing in a jug then and dipping in the stick, much better!

steal plastic cups from water coolers......amazing. in fact, thats how I did my pregnancy test as I was too nervous to wee much and never would have hit that stick!

Last time I went for antenatal check up was at GP's last week - I forgot to do urine sample at home in the morning so had to do one in the GP's toilets. Lovely brand new surgery.

Peed into tiny pot, (wee all over hand but pot wrapped in loo roll so largely protected.) I put the tiny pot with the wee into hand basin right next to the loo - sitting it on the sink drainer thing - while I sorted myself out, only to discover that the shiny new loos are equiped with automatic taps. Taps came on, right into my urine sample diluting it & then spilling it before I could react Blush.

No urine sample was involved in that check up!

nunnie · 24/03/2011 10:47

I've done that more than once, I was given a huge jug thing after my section to do a sample in and still managed to wee on my hand with that.

Men have it worse their pots are thinner and my DH only just manages a big massive toilet bowl he stands no chance with that thing.

nickelbabyhatcher · 24/03/2011 10:48

when I did my POAS, i used a little tub and got wee on me (niiice), but I agree with greenzebra about using a larger container to wee in an decant into the specimen tub

I ALWAYS forget to do a urine sample before I go to see the midwife. She knows this now and just gives me one of those little dipstick thingys and tells me to 'do the best at hitting all the squares'. Im pretty good at this now and find it much easier, although slightly embarassing walking back past all the patients in the waiting room with it flapping in the wind!

However last time i accidently dropped it down the toilet Blush. When I went back to tell the midwife, it was blamed on my grossly swollen pregancy hands lol
