losing the plot

there is baby brain, and then there is just plain losing the plot.

I am sure it was never this bad with DC1.

I usually have an excellent memory, and a fair amount of common sense. I know I'm not stupid.
I'm 36 weeks, and I feel like I can't hold a thought for longer than 3 seconds, and everything is hazy. I can't even read a whole page in a book, and I used to read a 1000 page book every 3-4 days, even with distractions from DC1, while walking, cooking or holding a conversation. I can't even manage the walking, cooking or holding a conversation now, nevermind the reading.
It is making me SO cross with myself.
I'm trying to write an essay about pulmonary and respiratory functions, and I've managed ONE paragraph in two days, not for lack of trying. I just can't concentrate on what I am trying to say.

And it's getting worse. I know some things are funny (like trying to make squash with the contents of my washing up liquid bottle, or attempting to do the washing up with salad cream) to a point, but I am hating it. I feel so out of control.
This is going to get worse, isn't it?

Don't worry Ivy. You're not the first person to laugh at me for that. A whole train of commuters saw it too! Ground, swallow me up please!

I wasn't even showing then so I just looked stupid Confused

Heard the toaster pop this morning and went to look for my toast in the microwave!

Was emptying the contents of the saucepan into a serving dish and just kept pouring and pouring until it overflowed out over the top of the dish, not noticing that the dish was full up already....I had guests over for dinner and one of them happened to be watching the whole ordeal. Blush

There's an old wives tale that says everytime a woman has a baby she looses around a third of her brain capacity!

lol - i've got 3 already + 4th on the way so, according to that particular old wife, i've no hope Grin

lol

I stood at a roundabout for ages today, wondering where I was going. At least I didn't end up at MIL's house again.

also tried to wash up using salad cream again. I must find a new place for that bottle.

I handed my DH my car keys so he could drive, while we were already sitting in the car which was running.

all of that just today....

my dance teacher had her baby about a year ago, and last night, she kept calling our thighs "shoulders" Grin

Oh some of these are so funny to read! At work yesterday I was meant to be giving a presentation about something which I have done a million times before, and went completely blank and kept shaking my head as if trying to jolt the bloody thing out of my mouth which just ended up with me opening and closing my mouth like a fish, then screwing my face up, then a little giggle and an apology and then a repetition of the first sentence, and then the shaking of the head again. This cycle continued for about 8 mins before I decided to just give up and sit down!

Also, the other day, after finishing my cereal, I decided to put the cereal in the fridge, only to discover that there was not enough room for it in there, so carefully adjusted everything inside to make the right amount of space and neatly placed the box in there. The milk went into the cupboard. It was only after a few hours I realised I'd done something really wrong but couldn't for the life of me figure it out until the next morning!!

Just popping in to say I like the name change Nickel, and I'm enjoying the baby brain stories. I'm only 6 weeks, and already seeing the early stages. Gulp.

thanks Lizzy! Grin
I can't decide whether i'm being more clumsy than usual - it might just be because i'm noticing it, rather than it being more frequent.
