Multi-vitamins with vitamin A

Hi

Got a very faint line yesterday so am assuming that I have a positive. My worry is that I take multivitamins and have just read the packet which says not to take when pregnant. Did some research and found this which says most of the damage is done in the first few days/weeks. Feel like crying, what an idiot :( What can I do?

Nowt you can do, but DONT WORRY! A million women are taking normal vitamins when falling pregnant, just stop taking them now and start taking 400mg folic acid.

Don't stress though, your GP/MW will tell you theres probably no harm done.

most vitamins are not absorbed by our bodies, so i wouldn't worry too much. just don't take them going forward and switch to a pregnancy complex. btw, not all vitamin A is bad (only the one derived from animal products); the one from plants and veggies is totally fine (in fact most american pregnancy vitamins contain plenty of vitamin A derived from veggies)... hope all goes well for you!

Don't fret! Unless you were having industrial quantities of VitA and gorging on liver (blee), you will almost certainly be fine. I was taking regular multivits (with VitA in) until shortly before I got a VFP at 3wks gestation (am still only at 6+3). Go buy some nice preg-spec vits now, have a nice cup of fruit tea, take some deep breaths and welcome. And please remember to take health advice issued by the Daily Hate with a pinch of salt - this is the newspaper which routinely lists the same things as being superfoods and as cancer-causing agents within a space of a few weeks.
