Is SPD preventable?

Got mild SPD at the end of my pg with ds4 and although it was mild it was awful.Sad Is there any way of preventing it, other than not getting pg for which it is now too late!

I don't think so :(
but you can get support belts to take the weight off your pelvis a little.

No unfortunatly not and having it once does not mean you will defo get it again apparently.

I agree with the others, I have had it with #2 & #4 pregnancies but the other 2 were fine. Was in quite good shape before pg & had strong core muscles so I can't see what else would help prevent it if that didn't work.

Fingers crossed you don't get it this time!

Actually just seen my (NHS) physio today and she said that if I am planning another pregnancy to see her before getting pregnant to check alignment and get appropriate exercises to stop it before it starts - she said that she has several ladies who this approach as worked!

... so maybe there is something you can do?

I think you can prevent it. I had it with DC1 so before getting pregnant again I really worked on my core strength. Then since being pregnant this time I have been very mindfl of how I move, ie. not putting too much weight on one leg, so I put trousers on both legs sitting down before standing up and I am careful not to spread my legs too far apart (sorry, that sounds awful but can't think of another way to word it!) I've also done less breaststroke swimming this time and so far, touch wood, at 29 weeks have no sign of it.

Thanks, all! May ring the hospital and ask to speak to a physio about it.
