Could I be pregnant?!

Hi everyone

This is my first time on mumsnet so if I make a mess of it apologies in advance!

My husband and I have been TTC since October 2010. I have Endometriosis and having been mis/un-diagnosed was put on the pill aged 11. I am now 30 and this is the first time I have been pill free in a very long time!

My first few periods were very regular but the last 3 have all been late (ranging from 3-6 days) but all (3 in total) pregnancy tests were negative. My last period finished 9 days ago (and was 4 days late) but I am having what I believe to be pregnancy symptoms; I feel extremely sick most days but haven't been sick, I have gone off of tea, my boobs seem bigger and I have put on 1/2 a stone in the last 2 months!

Does anyone out there have any help or advice they could offer?!

Thank you :-)

Hello and welcome to mumsnet. By the time you are getting symptoms of pregnancy I would expect your hormone levels to be enough to make a pregnancy test positive; so if you haven't done a test recently then just repeat one. However if your period 9 days ago was normal then it seems unlikely, sorry.

hi bunnybunyip

Thanks for your reply!

I probably wasn't very clear - I haven't done a pregnancy test since my Feb period... I thought I'd wait until I was 7 days late this time as I didn't want to 'peak to early!' but I came on after the 4th day so didn't bother to do a test as I just assumed that I wasn't pregnant.

thanks

If you have been on the pill for a long time this could be your body getting back in to the swing of periods again. Early pregnancy symptoms are the smae as period symptoms, moody, tired, sore boobs.

I have had a little experience, I have fibroids only diagnosed last year, before this I was on the pill for a while, really mucked up my already mucked up periods. Ended up having a period that lasted for 41 days, had to take this course of tablets to get it under control. 4 months after this we conceived!

I hope I havnt put any dampers on it for you but Im sure it will happen soon.

Just do everything you can to increase your chances,

take folic acid everyday
When you do have sex legs in the air for a good 10 minutes
Relax and dont get to stressed about trying to get pregnant (easier said than done)
Get your husband to wear loose boxers and take vitamin c and zinc (apparently it increases the spearm production)

Good luck.

thanks greenzebra!

I was on the pill for 19 years and always had very regular periods on it but I guess it can take a while to get out of your system and doesn't necessarily work for everyone!

I have been taking Pregnacare Conception since November and my hubby is taking multivitamins too so hopefully it is just a question of time

Glad everything worked out for you :o

Hi I had early pregnancy bleeding that was just like a period, it was only because I tested on the day my period was due that I knew I was pregnant, if I'd waited another 24 hours I'd have assumed I wasn't. So if in doubt, do a test, although it can get expensive. Good luck, it took me 9 months to conceive after being on the pill for 12 years, learning when I was ovulating was the best thing I did, and (hard as it is) relaxing about the whole thing.

If you are passed your period and still getting negative tests then I think it is unlikely you are pregnant. To put your mind at rest you could ask the doctor to do a blood test.

Try the conception forums, there are lots of lovely ladies who have been trying for various amounts of time, and you might find some people to help you along your journey to having a baby. I have just got pregnant after a miscarriage, and I couldn't have stayed sane without chatting to people who had been in the same boat while I was trying to get upduffed.

I also recommend buying some cheapo pregnancy sticks from ebay, that way you can be really really really sure either way!

Good luck, hope it happens for you soon.
