Discomfort during night, but not day

Hi,

I am 26 and 4w+6d pregnant with my first baby.

I have back ache, which feels as if my period is just round the corner, but that is bearable.During the night I wake up frequently with discomfort in my abdominal area. It seems to radiate and also seems to come at times from the right hand side. During the day though, there is nothing to be felty of that discomfort.

I am terrified that this may be an ectopic pregnancy, or a mc.

Does anyonbe know if these symptoms are normal? Or am I right to be worried.

I am trying to get an appointment with a doctor, as I haven't been yet.

Is less than 5 weeks too early for ectopic symptoms?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Sofia

Your doing the right thing by going to the doctors to get checked.
Im sure its nothing but you never know.
When you are first pregnant your uterus grows to accomodate the growing baby, and this can hurt, I remember mine feeling like period pain, I had pain in my groin and on the side. It was a bit scary but I kinda thought if I wasnt bleeding or bent over in pain everything would be fine. I did bleed alittle and went straight to the docs all was good.
Just remember its your body, your baby and if you dont feel right then go to the doctors or ring your midwife, you will not feel right untill you do.

Thank you very much greenzebra!
You have calmed me down a bit. I will see that I can get the doctor's appointment and will let you know how it goes.

Hi,
I had my scan today and the doctor seemed very happy so far.
The discomfort comes from my womb having stretched to twice its normal size already!
And the one sided pain is from the corpus luteum and the rupture of the ovary from ovulation.
It has been settling down.

Next scan in 2 weeks, as he couldn't see the baby, but at 5w I am very early. He did however say that he cannot see anything wrong with the tube, so said an ectopic is unlikely :)
