It's my due date tomorrow and to save myself from depression I'm trying to think of all the things I can do/have when I'm not pregnant anymore, here's my list:
-diet coke (I try not to drink too much caffeine so don't have coke and only have one coffee a day.....sometimes a large one)
-soft eggs
-every type of cheese without having to think about it
-a glass of red wine (but not straight away)

Sushi, oh how it miss sushi.

AllThreeWays · 21/03/2011 20:25

@ pipoca
you can't eat tiramisu as if authentic it is made with marscapone (a very soft cheese) booze and strong coffee, so quite a combination really :)

pipoca · 21/03/2011 20:30

ah, ok I've been eating crappy shop bought ones, so no probs there.

sidorek · 21/03/2011 20:32

9 weeks only an already making plans which sushi I am going to eat at my favorite sushi place... seems like ages away!

clarabella18 · 21/03/2011 20:40

Breakfast - 2 huge very softly boiled duck eggs and soldiers

Lunch - a huge bacon Brie and cranberry baguette

Dinner - a steak so rare that it's practically still mooing

Supper - Brussels pate and a very big measure of brandy and coke.

All of the above have been drummed into dp's head since week 1 and woe betide him if it doesn't happen!!!

Ilovekittyelise · 21/03/2011 20:44

dolcelatte, stilton, any other blue cheeses i can find with a vintage port and gallons of fruity red wine.

BeetleBaby · 21/03/2011 20:45

ahh this is one of my favorite daydreams at the moment:

To drink and eat without indigestion but specifically all the lovely (stinky) cheeses!
Being able to face coffee again without feeling sick.
Being able to drink pints of real ale (the odd swig from DH's just isn't the same) oh and red wine.
Being able to take a proper lung full of air when I take a breath.
Wear tops without them ending up rolled up under my boobs.
Jeans that stay up.
Wearing more than the one pair of (velcro) shoes that still fit, and being able to reach down to tie laces so I can wear my Doc Martens again.
Oh and generally being able to walk and get comfy instead of hobbling round thanks to the SPD!

far away look emoticon

cupofteaplease · 21/03/2011 20:45

After I had dd2, dh brought in a treat from the sandwich shop- a brie and grape baguette. My God, did that taste good Grin I have another 30 weeks until that happens again!

Ilovekittyelise · 21/03/2011 20:45

oh and some lovely chilled new zealand sauvignon blanc: more than a small glass of...a LOT more.

BlueMoomin · 21/03/2011 20:48

NUTS!!.... with wine, stilton and then more peanuts!

(I can't have them whilst pg)

A huge bag of dry roasted peanuts all to myself with a large glass of red wine.
Followed by a very large stilton sandwich.
Then for dessert, a family bag of peanut M&Ms ............. YUM!!! Grin

(can anyone spot why I didn't lose the baby weight last time around???!!) Confused

Georgimama · 21/03/2011 20:49

With DS1 I had stilton and walnut pate followed by a rare steak whilst I was in labour. I figured it couldn't do him any harm at that stage.

clarabella18 · 21/03/2011 20:51

I like your reasoning georgimama I'm thinking that's an option!!!

happybubblebrain · 21/03/2011 20:52

.... change the cat lit.

MrsVidic · 21/03/2011 20:55

Go on a diet and have a killer work out! Can't believe I get gym envy looking through the window sat on an excersize bike longingly llooking at my usual hard core circuit class! Can't wait to be svelte again ! Can't wait to have control of my appitite !

justbeingmummy · 21/03/2011 21:02

Ohhh I love this thread....

A nice cocktail (BF permitting obviously)

Sleep on one side for more than 20 minutes without being in agony

Throw away all the half used, crusty bottles of gaviscon

Give myself a pedicure

walk normally rather than looking like John Wayne whos lost his horse!

Sleep on my back

Have a conversation with someone that doesnt end up being about pregnancy

I am gonna miss my bump tho :(

Loobyloo1902 · 21/03/2011 21:13

Tie my own shoe laces
Get in the bath without fear of being stuck
Not say "oof" every time I sit down/stand up/bend over
Let the cat sit on my lap again rather than balance her on my shoulder when she wants a cuddle
Cross my legs at the knees

LabMonkey · 21/03/2011 21:32

MrsVidic glad it's not just me. I don't do the gym but if I don't get out for a run and cycle soon I may go mad. I know it's going to hurt getting back into it but it'll do my stress levels no end of good. This is my first so I'm probably being stupidly optimistic about how soon it will be.

Having said that a bit of goats cheese and a pint of ale won't go amiss either.

I've been advised by a colleague who loves her coffee as much as I do to go back on it half strength for the first wee while or I'll be wired for a month (probably not good with a newborn). I've been cold turkey for the last 34 weeks :(

I'm not sure I can even remember what it's like to sleep on my front - although not getting up to pee every hour will be replaced by being woken up by the baby I guess.

Marabou · 21/03/2011 21:33

DS is due in May so I reckon I'd love a nice, big, cool glass of rose in the garden with the spring sun shining on my face Smile.. Oh and when I've recovered enough I'll take a spinning class.. every day Grin!

JBrd · 21/03/2011 21:45

Pipoca & AllThreeWays - Tiramisu also contains egg yolks...

Yes, being able to exercise again will be nice! Pregnancy yoga is all very well, but I can't wait to do 'proper' workouts again.

Here's dreaming...I probably won't even have time to go to the gym/for a run etc.

JimmyChoo17 · 21/03/2011 21:52

Eat soft boiled egg with soldiers for breakfast, pate for lunch and a rare fillet steak washed down with a big fat glass of bubbly, go to bed, sleep on front with full use of my nasal cavities!!!

Really I prob won't get the time for any of this ha ha!

Ilovestripes · 21/03/2011 22:22

I am looking forward to...

  • Running and jumping about without worrying I am going to damage my unborn child (I might even do a few cartwheels on the grass).

  • Drinking lots of glorious dry white wine - although this is clearly a pipe dream as am planning to breastfeed.

  • Not obsessing over baby's kicks and movement - although I fear a whole new gamut of obsessions will take this obsession's place...

  • People talking to me about other things than babies (which, to be honest, don't really interest me).

P.S. I have eaten loads of Parma Ham (found an article online saying the Italians recommend it for pregnant women) AND loads of runny eggs (also found something online saying as long as it has a Lion stamp on it, it's fine...)

CaringForPod · 22/03/2011 09:30

Oh yes, so many things:

  • I too want to change the cat litter (feel so bad waiting for husband to do it, not exactly the best greeting when he gets home from work!)
  • do breast stroke in the pool
  • demolish a cheese board of brie, stilton, goats' cheese and camembert (strangely, wasn't fussed about them before I was pregnant)
  • stop snoring (that one's mainly for my husband)
  • walk, not waddle
  • break into a run from time to time
  • actually have a baby to use all the bits and bobs we have, after 8 months I'm getting pretty damn impatient!
FluffyDonkey · 22/03/2011 09:31

Seeing as in my fantasy world I will recover in 10 seconds flat I am looking forward to :

Going to karate training
Taking my migraine medication & nurofen
...

Trying to think of other things but still feel queasy so no food interests me atm.

Having said that - my (French) doctor said you can eat pate if it's the industrial stuff in supermarkets, not the fresh stuff sold over the counter etc.

cockle84 · 22/03/2011 09:32

Steaming hot bath, whilst drinking champagne and eating prawns / pate / medium rare steak.....not necessarily at the same time. Grin

Melly19MummyToBe · 22/03/2011 10:05

You can have runny eggs now aslong as they have the lion stamp on, the lion stamp means the chickens that laid those eggs have been vaccinated against salmonella and they will be fine for pregnant women to cunsume runny :)

I'm doing a Young Expectant Parents course, it's amazing the stuff you get to know!

Like the fact you can eat blue cheese sauces because they have been cooked!! And blue cheeses will probably be fine, after all, I bet French pregnant women don't hold back on the Brie!!
