Help Spd and C-section

Hi im 32 weeks pregnant, and have a consultant appointment on the 30th March. I have had my Gp a hospital ob registrar and midwife agree that induction at 37 weeks is the best option for me due to severe spd, hyperemisis and the amount of medication (tramadol, combined with co-codimal) and i'm on crutches and still in severe pain, so i'm fairly certain that induction is a complete go - ahead when i explain to the consultant...... and the opinions of all the other health professionals but i'v also decided that I would like a c-section after reading the risks of this and vd. I'm not sure how to go about this with a consultant, to make sure I get one any ideas, stories anything that could help....

I was told with my first that a VD was going to be risky to my pelvis due to severe SPD and said a c-sec was the best for me instead of induction early so I went with that as less risk for me.

I had severe SPD with my 3rd (hoping to stave it off this time). I was induced 2 weeks early and everything was fine. My physio put so much highlighter ink on my file you could have seen it from space! All the delivery staff took notice of what was written (and the fact that DH was parroting to every new person in the room the I had SPD - including the cleaner ).

I was offered a section as ds was breech but opted for ECV at 37wks (FWIW excruciating with SPD even with morphine) which worked and induction went fine.

If my SPD gets that bad again this time (and I am prepared for the worst) then I plan to go with VD again. If you can ensure that all staff are aware of the issue then it is no more risky than it should be and therefore less risky than a section.

Sorry you're suffering so much. It's not great, I know. If it helps, within hours I was feeling a lot better and 'normal' within a very few weeks. Good luck!

Hi. I had severe SPD with my 1st pregnancy and opted for a CS on my midwife's advice (as she said- until you've given birth no-one can really say that you actually can!0.
I saw a nasty registrar at 32 weeks who told me there were no grounds for a CS and that his recommendation was a normal delivery - induction at 39 weeks, labour and delivery while lying on my side with my knees together aided by epidural and a ventouse.

Not particularly natural sounding to me!
My midwife then wrote to the consultant saying that I was now extremely stressed and worried by the birth and I then saw the consultant at 34 weeks who offered me a CS straight away(i remember him saying that the severity of my SPD and the 9lb baby were both issues - he wasn't expecting me to be walking for a while after). I read in the Saturday Guardian about a month ago a piece about a woman who is wheelchair bound after 2 (very close together) pregnancies and deliveries with SPD and if I suffered badly again I wouldn't hesitate to have another section. I know people who have had horrendous SPD but got up and walked away for a shower after nice natural deliveries, but I was so wound up and petrified by the pain I was already in it just wasn't for me...
My 2nd baby was a completely natural birth btw (I waited 3 years and did my exercises to support the pelvic area and abdmomen every day) I used crutches once or twice and that was it).
