Huge at 5 1/2 Months - How AM I Going to Survive 4 More?

Darlingdamsel · 20/03/2011 17:21

Total moan, but I started blossoming early and now have exactly 4 months until my due date. I am really swollen belly-wise, skin feels really taunt and I just realised this morning, I have started waddling!

Anway, I don't understand why I am so big and more importantly - how I do I cope with 4 more months? Its insane!

Plus, this whole size issue is really started to bring me down and to the point, its ruining my pregnancy (which I never though I would have a problem with). I have only gained 6 kilos and just had my scan a few days ago - they weren't concerned. Tell me this gets better or something. Plus, how BIG can one get?!

I am exactly the same. 24 weeks and people keep telling me I look like I'm about to pop - God knows how massive I'll be by the end! It doesn't help that I work in the NHS so have a constant stream of patients/relatives telling me how massive I look Shock

I am usually a size 10 and fairly petite so it's a big shock to me to be so cumbersome. I've put on a stone in total but it's the heaviest I've ever been and although I know there's a good reason, I'm finding it difficult to deal with.

I'm dreading how much bigger I'm going to get :(

bishboschone · 20/03/2011 18:21

me too. I am 21 weeks and feeling VERY uncomfortable. I too am little and normally slim. I have put on loads of weight which doesn't help. Very worried about the summer months.

Darlingdamsel · 20/03/2011 20:30

Oh I am so glad I am not alone, but I am sorry as well. I just took at shower and had difficulty taking my socks off. As I live alone, I wonder just how bad this will get. Smile. I guess I will just wear smelly socks!

Do either of you think you are eating significantly differently and that may be the cause?

Fear not ladies you are not alone!!! I am sporting a belly of blimp proportions just now at 32w with my fourth. Quite honestly it's massive. It's measuring 37 weeks so 5cm over & yet growth scans show baby is fine!

The worst thing is everyone ELSE! My neighbour is 38w with her first and keeps making reference to me birthing a 10lb sumo baby, whilst rubbing her tiny bump!! Angry

Yes I KNOW it's massive, I have to lug it around....turn over in bed with it...manoeuvre it in and out of the car in stupidly small parking spaces and attempt to eat my dinner off a tray which is half a metre away from my body Grin....it may be huge but it's all mine!!

Chin up ladies, we'll all miss them when the babies are here!! Smile

Darlingdamsel · 20/03/2011 20:49

clouiseg, ironically that was the best belly laugh I have had in a long time. GrinGrinGrin

Sumo baby?! Oh no ...

I am not eating a massive amount but more than I normally eat if that makes sense. I am bormaly very strict with my eating and have relaxed a bit('mainly I eat what I can stomach) ...prob only a few hundred more calories A day though,so maybe just water?????

MrsChemist · 21/03/2011 08:19

My bump was huge with DS, but I'm very short so it had no where to go but outwards. Same thing this time. I'm 17 weeks and already have an obvious bump.

I'm convinced DS was early because my body just went, 'I've had enough of this lark, I'm too big now.'

dycey · 21/03/2011 08:24

Me too. 22 weeks and massive. 2nd baby and considerably larger than last time when I felt pretty agile til 8 months.

Friend of mine just had her second and said the last 6 weeks she actually felt better and less hefty!

Hoping it might mean this baby isn't late - last one was induced 10 days overdue, he was so comfy and I was quite comfy too.

greenzebra · 21/03/2011 08:50

Im 31 weeks and so big people think Im full term already. I am measuring 4 weeks ahead, which could be a number of reasons including lots of fluid.

I too and am so fed up with the comments, the bad parking etc, I feel like a sumo let alone giving birth to one!

Leilababyno1 · 21/03/2011 13:59

I was measuring really large throughout, have had a HUGE bump since about 20 weeks! BUT....went for my 34 week antenatal check up today, and belly has dropped, and am now only measuring 2 weeks out (large) instead of 4-6 wks out. So...my bump has evened out. Think once you 'drop' you'll definitely even out a bit..

Good-Luck!Smile

greenzebra · 21/03/2011 14:19

Leilababyno1 hope that is the case with me!

Darlingdamsel · 21/03/2011 22:27

Tell me about it. I will never survive if not. Smile.

People love to tell you that you look massive. I had PILs last night saying I must be having a big baby. Just smiled and nodded. Tried to explain that I have a small upper body, that I measured big last time and yet he was born small. In one ear out the other. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

notenoughlicorice · 22/03/2011 08:57

thank heavens for this thread - you all make me feel much more normal.

I am 21 weeks and huge. I not short (5'8) and have only put on 3kg from usual, but have run out of normal clothes already. I lost 4 kg in the first trimester, so maybe that is why?
Have been sick the whole time - puking and diarhea so no idea how it can possibly get so big!!

I have a serious waddle too - also strained stomach muscles and sciatica which just make it all so much more annoying!

Feel like I am just expanding so fast my body is going to detonate like on Monty Pythons Meaning of Life when the guy ate the dinner mint...

Scan says baby is exactly the size it should be - so what the hellis this massive belly for???

vj32 · 22/03/2011 09:04

I feel massive at 33 weeks but think the baby is sitting in an odd position - so I look and feel bigger than I really am. I am measuring a couple of weeks ahead too but just feel massive. Hopefully only 7ish weeks to go.

clouiseg · 22/03/2011 20:42

Ok so I went out with previously mentioned small bumped friend for brunch today and was told I look like I'm due ages before her (she has a 38w CS on Thursday)!

And I was then told (by someone else completely!) I look like I'm carrying twins Shock...although this was backed up by a comment about how 'slim' I am everywhere else!!

So currently resting my drink, huge dairy milk bar AND my iPad on said massive bump and feeling very glad it's there tbh!!

TWINS indeed!! Grin

Darlingdamsel · 22/03/2011 21:03

clouiseg ... you make me smile.

Go bumps! And I wish all my friends think I look slim everywhere else. Alas J Lo and I could have a competition regarding backsides.
