because I have SO much to do and can't bring myself to move.

I'm counting on this nesting to kick in and its not happening, I'm just getting lazier!!

Am 33 weeks and have HB visit in 2 weeks and really want to orgnaise the house as can be 'go' from 35 weeks here with HB but just can't get motivated to anything!

38 weeks, started 'nesting' about 2 / 3 weeks ago. Really kicked in when I finished up work last week. Pretty much organised now, estimate 5 hours left to do to!!
No compulsion before then.

tethersend · 20/03/2011 15:05

Still waiting. DD is 2 1/2 and the house is still a tip.

Pootletrinket · 20/03/2011 15:07

No, definitely did't nest last time, no inclination to this time. BUT have loads of cleaning etc to do. Managed to do a load yesterday, but that was more because I'm trying not to sit on the sofa to turn a breech baby! Almost 37 weeks so it may not happen for you either!

yama · 20/03/2011 15:10

No, pregnancy is far too tiring to be bothering with all that nonsense.

pirateparty · 20/03/2011 15:12

I had a sudden urge to clean the kitchen cupboards last time, but that was all. About 36 weeks I think.

30 weeks currently and no inclinations yet...

TotorosOcarina · 20/03/2011 15:14

See this is the only problem with homebirth, lol, I feel like I need to blitz the house in preperation!

It was very last-minute. In my last two weeks I:

Painted the dining room a random colour (warning: your interior design savvy will completely desert you when pg - turquoise walls anyone?);

Decided a hedge in the garden HAD to come up NOW (and pulled it up myself);

Bought a new wardrobe and assembled it on my own (on my due date);

Suddenly decided to cook a rice pudding (never before and never since, AND I managed to burn it).

Nothing particularly useful was achieved, and I was hardly in the best condition to carry out most of these tasks, but, hey, you can't argue with nature! Just don't redecorate.....Grin

I wish Envy. I keep hoping but it never happens! This is my third DC (32 weeks at the moment) and not a sausage, just like the last two where nothing happened either.

I'm far more likely to tidy/clean etc when I'm not pregnant as I have more energy and my body isn't falling to pieces from SPD.

I did have a day a few weeks ago where I finally got around to ringing a load of companies I had been procrastinating about for years to sort stuff out, but I might have done that anyway!

Oh wait.. a few weeks ago I did go and chop down loads of hedge in the garden despite having the SPD and it didn't really need sorting out. It just seemed like a good idea at the time but I have no idea how I managed it. Like CointreauVersial, it doesn't seem to manifest itself in any profoundly useful way. I can't even be arsed to pack my hospital bag let alone scrub the place until it gleams.

I nested at 39+4 (I am currently 40 weeks exactly). It lasted a whole day. I cleaned the whole flat and drove my OH up the wall by shouting at him for every little thing he did or did not do. The next day the nesting instinct had passed and now my kitchen looks like a bomb has hit it again - it looked good for a whole 24 hours though.

LittleMumSmall · 20/03/2011 15:37

I nest to the point of utter and total insanity! It starts towards end of second trimester. Has been, if anything, more pronounced second time around (am 34 weeks now but have been cleaning and tidying house up for ages already) and I have to physically hold myself back from buying cleaning products and sponges etc which I don't need as house already full of them!

Might be related to the homebirth thing, but I think it just satisfies some bizarre urge in me - I am officially regarded as nuts by everyone Grin Going to scrub doorsteps now...

theborrower · 20/03/2011 16:19

I started doing lots of cleaning about a week to go I think, but I was doing lots of homebaking in the last week or so too! (And I never bake). I remember one day DH and I were on a cleaning mission (ok, I was and he was doing what he was told) and I was cleaning things I had never bothered to before (shoe boxes at the back of the wardrobe, anyone?).

pettyprudence · 20/03/2011 18:35

I am in the middle of a cleaning "binge" at 38+4 here. I haven't found anything yet that I can't steam clean or bleach :) I reckon that I have another weeks worth of work to do (started last Tuesday in a lazy way) and then I will be done and will need to start again

Always thought that if I got the nesting urge I would employ someone else to do it for me as I normally hate this stuff but I have had a craving for bleach for weeks now and have gone a bit OCD in how I like things done Blush

PipPipPip · 20/03/2011 19:12

I'm 39 weeks, and it certainly ain't come yet Hmm

spanky2 · 20/03/2011 19:14

A week before ds2 was born I had the urge to clean the fridge. It is the only time I have thought, wow, I need to clean the fridge.

girliefriend · 20/03/2011 19:17

The day before my waters broke I went on a dusting frenzy.....Confused

localcrackpot · 20/03/2011 20:01

two weeks after conception I went out and bought a cath kidston apron and a set of emma bridgewater cake tins. (I do bake, but I'm more of a goth than a cath kidston fan normally). I started cleaning like a mad woman, as in cleaning the cooker twice in one day. I'm only on week 8 but I feel the pull now - having mad decorating plans which WILL happen - but am too knackered to do much. Hope second semester finds me feeling much better!

growing3rdbump · 20/03/2011 20:24

I am totally obsessed with the house and housework and have been nesting for weeks if not months... am now 32 weeks pregnant with DC3 and am beginning to feel a little bit more organised, but there's still loads to do!!!

I am driving DH crazy as I want everything clean and tidy all of the time and I feel obsessed with the need to ensure there's always clean, ironed clothes for the children, floors are clean, bathroom is clean etc - I am totally wearing myself out!

I am positive I have never been like this before! I think part of it is due to having to reorganise DC2's with a new bed and drawers for his clothes, so we can make room for the baby's things in our room and my drive to get everything ready has totally lost perspective!!!

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2011 22:11

If any of you pregnant ladies have run out of things to clean at home and want to pop round here, I've got plenty of jobs need doing....Grin

HLSalter · 20/03/2011 22:37

I'm 23 weeks now and for the past week have been on a complete cleaning frenzy! No matter how knackered I am there is always something else that has to be cleaned right now otherwise I can't relax.

owlbooty · 21/03/2011 11:12

Noooo, don't tell me some people don't get it!

My house looks like a bombsite and I am feeling no inclination to tidy anything. I've got 20 weeks to go, but frankly it's going to take at least 20 weeks to actually make it look civilised. And I was planning a home birth.

Shite. :(

pootros · 17/04/2011 20:21

So, did it kick in, Owlbooty / pippippip?
I really hope the garden/ house nesting that I did today counts; I'd love to deliver this week - some of you said it was a bit of a last minute clue! due in 3 weeks though. It is extreme - I was up from 4 thinking about it - then non stop all that time!
P

Zimbah · 17/04/2011 21:17

I don't think I'm nesting, but I'm trying to get a lot done purely because we've got masses we really do need to get done - at the moment there's nowhere to put the baby's clothes for example, so need to reorganise to make room. With DD1 I seem to remember the day before I went into labour I did some serious nesting, cleaning the kitchen cupboard doors etc with great vigour which I've never done before. But one day of nesting doesn't achieve that much!

WiiUnfit · 18/04/2011 19:17

I nested around the 20 week mark, for a day. I did loads of tidying and cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom, even to the point of rearranging the "stock cupboard", the pots & pans and the fridge freezer. Hmm

I have had tiny nesting spurts since but they only last until I'm in agony with my back! :( Last night's episode was rearranging the top shelf of the wardrobe complete with dusting. Now feeling an urge to go tidy the bedroom... :)

30 weeks today & still feeling like I need to pull my finger out!

Almost6 · 18/04/2011 20:29

I started last week at 32w, have cleaned whole house, even on hand n knees scrubbing the floors. Made dh paint whole house (he still has 3 rooms to finish but that's ok coz there are plenty of bank hols coming up). Ordered n put together new beds n bedroom furniture for the kids rooms! Just have to clean out the kitchen cupboards, not dirty just feel I should, and baking aswell, nothing good for you, just cakes, biscuits, and especially fresh cream Swiss rolls! And I'm also nagging for new carpets but have been told that's ott! Am running out of energy to keep it up though!

Armi · 19/04/2011 06:39

I've been like it for a few weeks now - am 28 weeks. I have a mammoth list of things that MUST be done, including having all curtains dry cleaned, cleaning door frames and tops of doors, polishing curtain rails and having the entire house re-painted by 'someone who knows what they're doing'. Unfortunately I am in meltdown because the latter is happening this week, so the house is an absolute tip and I can't bear it!
