Early scans and blood tests

Went for seven week reassurance scan. Full bladder, fit to burst, yet sonographer couldn't see anything. Very worried now. They did blood test, Hcg level result:4397. Is that good or bad for dates? They will do another blood test tomorrow to see if Hcg is increasing. They wouldn't offer me any advice, saying we had to wait until Sunday's blood test results. I'm also booked in for another scan next Friday. Please share any advice regarding Hcg results. Very very worried. Anyone experienced nothing in early scan too? I was offered an internal scan, but I refused. Wasn't comforatable with the idea. TIA x

Hi, the Hcg number alone can't really give you any answers as levels vary so much. You need another blood test to see the trend - your levels should approximately double every few days in a healthy pregnancy. It is difficult to see what is going on in there with a normal ultrasound before about 8 weeks, internal scans can see a lot more.
Fingers crossed for you tomorrow xx

Ignore this thread... Don't know how the stupid pc got me to post this twice! Same thread exists in which lovely ladies are very helpful.

Aah please try not to worry too much, though I've been in your position before so it's easier said than done! Have you had any symptoms? I really hope everything turns out ok for you and will be following the other thread :)

No, I've not had any symptoms, apart from sore nips and period like cramping early on in. That only lasted for a couple of weeks or so, since then nothing. No nausea, headaches, nothing. Extreme tiredness- but that could easily be work related. As it's my first, and I'm no spring chicken, I was extremely worried. Lovely gp arranged assurance scan to put my mind at ease- instead it's opened up a whe new can of worms... Typical! Thanks for your best wishes, it means a lot. Will update after blood test results tomorrow evening. Hope that they DO put my mind at rest FX :-)

Tiredness and sore nips are good!! No spotting or bleeding is also good! Plenty of positives there to keep you going, will check back tomorrow to see how you are :)
