Early scans and blood tests

Went for seven week reassurance scan. Full bladder, fit to burst, yet sonographer couldn't see anything. Very worried now. They did blood test, Hcg level result:4397. Is that good or bad for dates? They will do another blood test tomorrow to see if Hcg is increasing. They wouldn't offer me any advice, saying we had to wait until Sunday's blood test results. I'm also booked in for another scan next Friday. Please share any advice regarding Hcg results. Very very worried. Anyone experienced nothing in early scan too? I was offered an internal scan, but I refused. Wasn't comforatable with the idea. TIA x

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Dh came home last night. Bleeding is continuing. No clots yet- waiting for their appearance. it is red fresh blood though. Heavy feeling down below. Feel empty inside- emotionally. Dh has been a rock. Very supportive. He's holding it together for now. I am an emotional wreck. Will update with scan results.

Helibee: sorry for your miscarriage. Thanks for your support. You guys here have kept me company when I literally had no one with me in RL. Thankyou x

I had nothing visible on an internal scan, brown sludge bleeding, red bleeding, blood tests v. similar to yours.

I now have a 20 month DD so please don't totally lose hope yet, it might be the same for you Smile.

Diamondsamdrubies · 27/03/2011 08:17

Lunaticonthegrass: that is very encouraging. Congratulations on your dd. But I've had the brown discharge since Tuesday- at every toilet visit/wipe. The red bleeding has been continuous since Friday. Surely you didn't have this? This is what leads me to believe my body is trying to expel now.

I had the brown discharge for a week - The GP said it was old blood & not to worry as did the EPU.

Then it turned bright red & I was sent to the EPU for a scan. I was actually bleeding when they did it & they couldn't see anything. They did the blood tests, ( I think it was a Friday & a Monday) I can't actually remember the numbers but there was a similar increase to yours, eg 50 - 70%.

They told just to go home & take it easy & to come back in a week for another scan. There isn't anything they can do at that stage & just to let nature take it's course.

I went back for my scan after a week & there she was! Tiny little blinking heartbeat Grin

My bleeding & spotting continued on upto about 12 weeks & they were possibly the longest weeks I've ever lived - but DD arrived healthy & screaming on her due date.

Hopefully your story will turn out the same, I have my fingers crossed for you x

well as they say until the fat lady sings as it were, don't give up hope.

ps' my bosses wife - she bled at 4/5/6 weeks - and in fact they told her she wasn't pg at all & if she had been it's all gone and she'd m/c sent her home to wait (she was bleeding very heavy red) this was A&E, about a week later she had a private scan as nothing had started and whatcha know even after still bleeding there was a little heart beat, she was very sure of her dates and again their DD arrived some 3 weeks early - is now 8 months old - so don't give up hope just yet, will keep it all crossed for you.

Lunaticongrass and Davidsmistress : my poor nerves are all over the place now. So so hope that you ladies are right and that it turns out ok for us. The continuous red bleeding is very very disturbing and seems so finalising. it's hard to remain optimistic after that. It's just like a period. Shows no signs of abating.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. I'm so glad your dh is home with you and that he's been so supportive x x

Diamondsamdrubies · 28/03/2011 20:44

Iwilldothis, maccie and Helibee: think it's all over for us :-( . Lots and lots of thick gloopy, bright red bleeding since the moment I woke up. Passed lots of clots too.
Your support has been invaluable at such a bleak point in our lives- especially while I was trying to cope on my own, with no one to confide in or lean on. I appreciate this so much. Thankyou xxx
Will still update after the scan. Wonder how long this bleeding will last for? When does bleeding stop after a miscarriage?

for me personally it was around 10-14 days. I wasn't more than about 6-7 weeks pregnant though so I dont know if that makes a differance. Hopefully you can end today with some answers. The not knowing was the worst part for me. I will be thinking of you.

Renaissance227 · 29/03/2011 10:13

iWILLdothis · 29/03/2011 17:24

So sorry to hear this. Will be thinking of you at the scan tomorrow. xx

helibee · 29/03/2011 18:21

I'm so sorry to hear that diamonds. I bled very heavily for 10 days and then if I over did it the bleeding got worse again for another few days. In all about 14-17 days. I was about 6 weeks pregnant.

We're here for you x

Diamondsamdrubies · 29/03/2011 19:11

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys- the external scan wasn't that great. The internal confirmed that there was no heartbeat. The sac has yet to be expelled. I've been sent home to let that happen naturally- if bleeding or pain get unmanageable then told to return to a and e. Otherwise scan booked in two weeks time to check if a products cleared. Hope sac expels soon. Anything to help pass it quicker?
Really appreciate all your support xxx

Was watching your thread. So sorry to hear your news :(

helibee · 29/03/2011 20:08

Oh diamonds I am so so sorry to hear that : ( how are you feeling?

I don't know how to get thongs going more quickly, only that if I overdid things as in heavy lifting, lots of housework etc then the bleeding got heavier and more clotted!

We are all here for you x

LunaticIsOnTheGrass · 29/03/2011 21:39

So Sorry Sad

piprabbit · 29/03/2011 21:47

I'm so sorry Diamonds - take care of yourself, I hope you have some RL support to see you through the coming weeks and months.

davidtennantsmistress · 30/03/2011 08:07

so sorry for your news was really hoping for you.

for me, everything came away the same day as the internal scan, I bled I think iirc for about a week very heavy then not too much. I was 8 weeks. take it easy though you'll be surprised how much it knocks you.

maccie · 30/03/2011 08:38

i'm so so sorry diamonds. all my sympathies are with you and your husband at this very sad time. please make sure you take it easy for a few days and allow yourself to greive for your lost one. You will get over this in time and it doesn't mean it will happen again in the future. I had ds1 then dd2 a mc and then dd3. Just let yourself recover and take comfort from your husband and RL freinds.
i'm sure us mumsnetters will offer support if you need to talk. x

Renaissance227 · 30/03/2011 09:07

nickelbabyhatcher · 30/03/2011 11:55
